you got the option of staying “baller out of control” status or loco locals.. I grew up Baja.. I like a little of each. Lol

I wish the video platform was better on rdp. If you could see where I’m at right now and the giant ass Argentinean steak I just ate you’d charge your tune on the quick. Lol

When I get home I’m gonna upload some YouTube videos, this place is incredible.
My life is more important than cheep food. Lol

Mexico Title searches and title deeds were handled through Notary publics last I heard.
Extremely important.
Is it still that way?

The title is held in a trust as I understand it. More on that later

yep. They said it is a little pre season and the Covid deal has a lot of people at home.
LAX was a ghost town when we flew out of there and it was the day after thanksgiving!

Today we drove out to my buddies “surf shack”.

it is pretty close to the world famous surf spot “The Ranch.” The surf is actually better in front of his house, according to Erick who has surfed both.

it is really out in the middle Of nowhere.. lol. 20-30 minutes from Troncones and 15 minutes down a dirt road kinda deal. I couldn’t hardly believe it.

The same contractor built this house, as the one way stayed in, as well as the new development.

Some pics coming back on that dirt road.. Fascinating stuff out there.. The pics are out of order but the nice houses are all neighbors (about six of them) at that surf spot. Most the guys that have houses in this spot are from San Clemente
and surrounding areas.

Before we departed a lady came on the plane and thanked us for visiting etc.. I Have never seen that before.

After we pushed out the ground crew all came out and was waiving good bye. They are taking hospitality to a whole new level To drive more tourism dollars.

The ashtray really turns the food off for me. Who smokes at the dinner table anymore? They're still in controll it seems...really wish you could just walk away from those things but who am I to moderate your health.

Safe travels home.

Mexico can be such an amazing place. Cabo was long before the Marina, when the Trailer Park was the best restaurant in town, when the river flowed across the road during big late summer storms, the locals would gather and watch the idiots get stuck in that river, laugh at them then run out and do everything they possibly could to help them, long before the mega resorts were ever built. So good to hear Dave and Stacy got to have that kind of experience. When Mexico is good, it is off the hook good. But, when it goes bad . . . . .

The Trailer Park brings back memories of the largest lobsters I've ever seen on a plate 😁 That and going to the cock fights.

Is there any urgent care or hospital close

May know I’m not sure? Being the average age of the tourists down here is 50-70 I’d assume they would have to have something. Ixtapa is about 15 - 20 minutes down the road.

Back In The Day the local Mexican Pharmacists had some amazing meds. Like one pill and you're done. Don't know what meds they were using, but they sure as hell worked. Major medical problems, good luck, if needed Air Ambulance back to the US. May be still like that. Honestly, I don't know.

Did have to put into Acapulco one time due to a crew member with a severe impacted dental problem. Mexican authorities said he could not fly until inspected and stabilized by a Mexican dentist. The dentist came out to our ship via the pilot boat. As she climb from the pilot boat up to the main deck of our ship, most of my crew stood looking over the rail checking out this very HOT female dentist as she climbed up to our ship. She looked like someone straight out of a Russ Meyers movie. Complete with the high heels, fur and nylons. She must have been very good, because she stabilized our hurting crew member in no time. With that, the rest of my crew wanted to be "stabilized". Very pretty lady, spoke English very well and was apparently also a good dentist. Totally true.

While Ixtapa is safe for you to visit, it is unfortunately located in the state of Guerrero, which is highly dangerous at this moment in time.Aug 12, 2019 🤔

Is there places to rent down there?

100% yes! There arehouses that range from mild to wild right on the ocean. There is also bungalows at hotels that go as cheap as 40-50 bucks a night on the sand.

The villa we stayed at typically rents for 15k a week. Our friends Ray and Nikki rent there three bedroom for around 6k a week.

The units at the development we went to check out are expected to rent 3-5k a week.. There are tons of places to rent but it’s like Parker they tend to fill up fast during the on season.

That is like saying Carlsbad is safe to visit but it’s in the state of California which is dangeroua. (Oakland / Los Angelas)
Thattaboy... setting folks asses straight. Glad you guys enjoyed and found your new spot. Speaking of asses, I'm guessing they had their water filtration all dialed in as you never mentioned any intestinal issues from anyone with all that yummy chow going down.

Never forget two trips to San Fran in 74 to 78 I've been visiting the city. I was going to see a friend who had a hairdressing shop in Oakland. I got lost, using a map and stopped by a group of black folks working on the street, asking for direction. :D Never forget their faces when I pulled up [ leaving the Challenger in gear clutch pressed in ;) ] asking for direction. Took them a moment before giving me direction that was good and found the shop.👍
The other time, again in San Fran, me and friends on the way to San Diego, we stopped at that steep crooked street to take some photos in around 6 am with practically no one in the streets.🤔 A sedan pulls up and a uniformed guy gets out to talk to us. He suggested we wait til traffic starts and people start showing up in the streets before doing our tourist activities, lol. He said someone earlier got robbed nearby Arriving in Anaheim a friend lived, I never seen so many fenced properties, some with barbed wires, before.

Brings back memories also. I used to get flown down there to work on boats in the 80's. If I remember correctly the only "la ti da" hotel was I think called Sol Mar 🤷‍♂️ and it was fairly new. I was down there several times to work on customers boats that had screwed up and they didn't want to drag them back to the States. Cabo, Buena Vista, Los Frailles, La Paz, Loretto. Did a lot of work but fished a lot also.
Here's a pic of me on a launcher in Cabo!!😁

Damnet Dave all these pictures brought back memories of fishing trips to Los Barriles and eating at Herman’s and his “ Chili Bobos” so tried to recreate them on the smoker today. Turned out good but not as good as the authentic ones in Mexico.

Jesus thats some rig ya got there.... yep, Sol Mar was THE place back in 80s-.... I found it on my first visit down in '85.... gal and I rented sea doos from the Office area and they told us not to go past Lovers Arch around tip cause the Hells Angels had recently visited and crashed several skis into the rocks.... well we hauled ass over around the corner to see what was over there of course.... thats when I first saw Sol Mar and never stayed anywhere else for 20 years or so till they took it down and built all the fancy hotels on that strip of beautiful beach. I had drinks with the Mexican hotelier who owned all that property back around that time and he shared his vision of development and sure as shit he did everything he planned. Cabo lost its Love for me a few years back.... just an extension of SoCal now. I miss the $185/ night Sol Mar days...

In the 80s I was VP of Innovator Boats. Hotel Palmilla purchased 5 of our sportfishers. They would fly me down for the initial launchings. Good times, great fishing, nice people and a beautiful hotel. Palmilla is actually closer to San Jose than Cabo. You’d drive right by it on the way to Cabo from the airport and never even see it.

When Palmilla went up Cabo became an international attraction.... Big $ resort and first class. Great celebrity watching in the bar.

Never stayed there. I was just a boat mechanic and stayed basically in people's campers or a 3 sided tent that I shared with the local 4 legged cows. I did take the wife down a couple times on non-working trips and we stayed on the East Cape, Buena Vista and I don't remember the name of the one just South of it. Damn we caught a lot of fish back in those days. One time out, the wife said she had had enough. We got into a school of Dorado as far as the eye could see. Those things beat us up that day.
Have not been down there in decades and a client in Oregon said if I want to remember it the way it was back then, DON'T go back. We paid more for the ice than the beer back then. I seem to remember 14 cents for a beer at the beer stores across the Hwy from the airport. The airport was an open air thatched roof deal back then, have no idea now.

Your Oregon buddy is correct. I just visit some Mexican families I've befriended over the years now when I go. They can still give me the Mexican experience I long for.... these days one has to go much deeper down like RDP has found recently. That gives us the old Mx cultural experience we crave.

That a 1.7 million dollar house on the sand on a point with two bays out front.. the left one has the best snorkeling in 40 miles.. the right one is perfect sand and clear waters.

I actually called about five people and said if you got a passport stop what you are doing, hop a plane and get down here. It literally doesn’t get any better. Strangely none of my friends have passports?
