Coliseum mine today. They closed the road to vehicles, but we were able to walk to the bottom.

Actually they look like Compounds. Super lay outs, many have the Huge Buildings for the Toys!

Thanks!, How was the Ride?

Yep. Some had nice large ponds and massive garages. Not bad spreads to dig in.

It was extremely peaceful. We are usually the skydiving, bungee jumping, hang gliding, etc. type but this was pretty awesome. I’m glad I pushed from the morning of 1/1 to 1/2. Waking up that early was tough without staying up all night.

Whenever I see a Cemetry like this, it is so gross!! I can't believe there is No One who is either related to those who are buried there OR just someone Or group who gives a "Shit"

Yeah it was wierd. there were burials from the early 1900 all the way up to 2019. All were oddly crude- as in get a shovel and pile up some rocks. Its a very old mining town. Some were just a pile of stones

There is No town or ? close? I guess thinking the Poor Souls deserve something better and with much more respect.☹

Boy you were getting around up there yesterday... where'd you take off from and where'd you land? I saw your post about being over Temecula.

We took off from some little field next to a park. Not sure where it’s at as they pick the spot based upon a wind reading 30 mins before the flight. All of the companies do this because the winds are constantly changing.

We happened to land at a winery. I think it was Robert Renzoni, but I’m not positive. It’s right next to a bunch of grapefruit and orange trees, which we cleared with probably a foot of clearance. Our pilot had some serious control even though it’s pretty much wherever the wind takes you for the most part. The pic below is us approaching the grove in the basket.

And right there in that pic is a wind machine (Recent topic in another thread) in So Cal, I thought they were all gone by now. 😁

Landing, yup, we did a balloon flight behind Del Mar inland early one morning. Since most balloon trips ended up in the area of our home, we figured we'd get some good aerials as a bonus to a fun morning. Nope, winds changed, ended up in Miramar NAS (Pre - Marines) restricted airspace, bounced off one ridgeline, re-gassed and flew over another canyon, then finally bounced to a "On our side" stop on the next ridge line, but just barely before we went over the edge.
Fun trip, with one hairy scary finale for sure. Once was enough for us. 😂

Good eye. We were well below that, hit the heat, cleared it by a few feet, then dropped back down. They had several in the field.

Our pilot is one of the few that does Del Mar. He does Temecula at sunrise and Del Mar in the evening. He told us it was much more sketchy, and he’s constantly cancelling flights.

Used to be that inland of Del Mar there was mostly tomato fields or barren hills, now it's nut-to-butt homes, with the exception of a few areas, so finding a desirable landing area is getting sketchy. Occasionally the news shows one down on some residential street, oops. They day we flew, we ALMOST made it to those fields, when we finally gently crashed, our next stop was 805 or I-5, or Torrey Pines, then the pretty blue pacific. 🥵

Coolio thanks... I ask because I have a yacht captain buddy who also has a balloon and he makes $ on side flying corp schmucks on occasion. He tells me how dangerous it can be if pilot doesn't have lots of hours... winds and power lines kinda thing. And he never really knows where he's gonna land in advance, lol.... always looking for a guy he can pay to trail his ass in a jeep. Some view though eh. He sends me incredible pictures each year from the Albuquerque festival.... really something special.

No doubt it is. You should hitch a ride sometime.

Our Peloton was delivered while I was out at the river. Returning home to a new toy was the only thing that made the end of vacay okay. Our gym is coming together...

The new TV's 'ambient mode' is kinda cool. You take a picture on the app of the tv on the wall and it recreates the wall behind it to blend in. You can put artwork or photos up in that mode as well and it won't burn the screen if it stays up for hours.
