I've been trying to educate myself on jet boats before I purchase. Berkeley seems to be the jet of choice. Which model is this? Is this the best setup for a stock BBC? Just looking to have a reliable fun toy.

It should have a tag mounted close to inspection cover .
Looks like a JG - c .
It is not a spit bowl .
Jet can definetly be built up for more performance .

Those cavitation plates are junk . Get rid of them asap .
They tried to stop the porpoising , Im assuming .
Most smaller jets , have that problem .

How to solve
My suggestions
Jet balanced blue printed
Have a new loader Installed and have the Intake machined for a shoe and ride plate.
Either find a split bowl , or have yours turned Into one , try a long drop snoot or a placecraft short one . $4/5k

IF you want more performance , take the hook out of back of boat . Very time consuming and money to do . 2k

With those mods which aren't cheap . You will have a better ride , much better performance, and gain 7-10 mph .

The thing is with older jets . You might seem your going 100 mph. In all reality 60/70mph would be a more real number .
Anything faster costs lots of money .
Only older jet I would buy
Would be a Rogers , cole , south wind tunnel .

I think finding a older jet boat , with lots of good stuff , bbc Berkeley or dominator jet , place diverter . Have fun learn.
Once you start wanting more performance , take all your stuff out and put in a new haul.
Gullwing 18' or 19' or any Daytona type haul.
