I can’t verify that it is legit, but this pic has been circulating amongst some of my boating friends since early early am.. (I woke up to a bunch of texts with it)

If it’s legit than I’d say “three can keep a secret if two are dead.” :D. Someone with some press credentials gots some esssplainin to do. (I’m not there!)

This is a larger / heavier outboard designed for the larger CC market and would basically remove the 627 from the market. (which was already being phased out)

hence the word “potential”. Personally I think it’s legit but we will see
The info might be correct but the picture is definitely photoshopped. Either way it’s not going to be an R motor like people are wishing for.

Yeah ... my bet is that's a bogus photoshop job. (or fake decals/ badges on real motors)
If you launched a 600 hp V-12 outboard, tell me you'd make those badges low-key and understated . . . not.
I'll be on stand by for a 'Crow Sandwich'.

who’s eating crow? It is declared three times in a couple sentences that it is a “possibility”. Not that it is for sure

I am going with photoshopped. It looks like an Audi V12 badge. I hope it is true though! Imagine a few V12's screaming across the water!?

No . . . I meant I'll be the one eating crow if I'm wrong, not you.
Would be an impressive feat if this is true.

I would say it’s legit, they are definitely fatter than the 450. Mercury gets it, they come out with the 450 and everyone sells their 400’s and upgrades, repeat the process with the 600. The boats running the 450’s already can handle the weight and the power upgrade no problem.

I read on The Hull Truth it was a graphic kit. Excited to see what they come out with.

V12 would be a badass piece of machinery

What time is the release?
Is a bigger outboard the most innovative thing they’ve ever done? Seems like the next logical step and not a leap..

So the 5 people that want a new lightweight, high power 2 stroke are let down again?
Never gonna see a lightweight 2 stroke again. We all want one but we are a small market compared to the market for the big outboards. That and factory involvement in sprint racing is all but dead so winning in that type of racing isnt all that important to Mercury anymore compared to the past.

I say that every year when these announcements are made. That market is dead and that is not where the money is.

Just want to say thats three for three in the new outboards that were on rdp first. :D

Im confused - is this a reality or decals?

And on the "first" Dave - I cant speak for other forums or news outlets but the link in "The Hull Truth" shows that pic posted before it was posted here?

My money is still on a 150ish hp electric outboard targeted towards the pontoon market.

More hp is badass, but I wouldnt exactly call it "the most innovative outboard in Mercury's history"

I heard last week it’s gonna be about outboards and it’s going to be pretty impressive.

I don't follow the outboard market very closely, but my guess is that it's an electric or hybrid outboard.

"And an independently steering lower unit."

That's pretty cool. It should make rigging multiple engines much simpler.

The lower unit turns and the way it trims is different than anything I have ever seen as well! It’s definitely different!

pretty cool, yet weird at the same time. I like it!
