I have friends that cannot understand why I have books, and my kids have books.
Books can't be changed with a key stroke, or removed from view like the internet. My wife has multiple sets of Suess stuff in her classroom...not one book about gender or sex. When that becomes an issue, she'll quietly bow out of that profession.

In the meantime, I find myself feeling like the "fireman" from Bradbury's book, I though it was fiction. Turns out, Fahrenheit 451 was more prophetic than I thought.

I may be starting a library of offensive works...speakeasy for nerds.

Excellent point and can't believe I never really considered that.

One flake, two flake
Red flake, blue flake
Black flake, white flake
Old flake, new flake
It's sad to see how crazy they are
Leaning to the left so very very far
Say! What a lot of flakes there are.
Yes. Some are black and some are white
Yet so very few can ever think right
Some are sad and most are mad
but all are very, very bad.
Why are they so mad and sad and bad?
I do not know.
You should ask your dad.
True some are thin skinned
And some are thick skulled.
Some are thin and some are fat,
Look! the fat one has a pink pussy hat.
From there to hear, from here to there,
There's one thought to take,
Everyone hates a fucking snowflake

Sneetches is all about racism and how stupid it is in the end. They are condemning that book as well. Its time for the damn pendulum to start swinging the other way already.

I was scratching my head on this as well. Are they so stupid they missed the entire point of the book?

Book banning, next it will be burning.

Fucking Ray Charles can see what is happening, these idiots truly want a war.

Is that what they want ? I'm being honest here, I can't fuckin figure out what they think they're trying to accomplish with all this bullshit propaganda.
Is it raising compassion and sympathy with some age group I'm not aware of ? Is there an age or other demographic who's suddenly feeling horrible for the mistreatment of minorities ? I mean other than the bleeding heart liberals who are returning from their latest "Save the Snail" tour.

Because I can tell you, this 73 year old and his 64 year old wife aren't feeling it. Nor is anybody I know or have spoken with. I haven't felt this much racial anger ever, not even when the Army in their ultimate wisdom thought I should be roomies with two previously drug dealing brothers from Harlem. That for the record was an experiment destined for failure from the get go. But that's it, just those two in 73 years, not bad I don't think. But now I'm taking extreme exception to having this shoved up my ass and starting to feel rather ---- I shudder to use the "R" word, but yeah, that's it.

You can't just go around talking about shoving shit up your ass, this offends the gay crowd.

In short... yes.
Affirmative action is on its way back (although it is called something different), even though it is founded on and completely supports racism by definition.

Either that or they dont like that Suess drew a slant eyed china man in one book so they all have to go... I went through and tried to find specific examples of racism through google but now that the story is on the AP wire everyone and there mother is writing about it making a search for actual examples impossible. All the stories just list the number of times something was racist... All headlines and no facts as usual.

I bought my grandson a set of real encyclopedias to help with changing history.

Abbie Hoffmans story is pretty incredible especially when he was fighting to save the river later in life while still on the most wanted list. That's a great collection on counterculture.

Learning for Justice was formerly known as “Teaching Tolerance,” which has promoted radical views on teaching “social justice” and “racial justice” to students as young as five-years-old. Learning for Justice is the education arm of the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

Really???

These people are on a mission, there is no stupidity involved at the decision making levels...now, at the pawn level...well.
These are the True Believers and their goal can only be the destruction of the culture. You can't be from a group with the name, "Learning for Justice" and come to any other conclusion. This is why I am strongly encouraging my children to get my grandchildren out of public schools, and we are gonna try to help $ wise if we can, somehow.
Learning for Justice...code name for another gang of "educators" whose first and foremost goal is the indoctrination of our children. Their names change regularly to hide who they are and to charge the donation system, but Joe is right. SPLC..
No reasonable person exercising common sense and evaluating this can come to any other conclusion.
Take heed, America. Know who the people are who are teaching your children. Understand these people are hell bent on fundamentally changing everything in this country to fit in their socialist-progressive utopia. I have been talking about this since I joined this forum. A lot of folks thought I was crazy, and that "we will never let that happen here"
Well...guess what...it is.

YES!!!

The older encyclopedias are a GREAT resource. I have suggested this before, I have 3 sets for my grandkids. A funk and Wagnall, and a Britannica and a WOrld Book from 1974 that was actually mine as a kid. We have the Year Books up to about 1990. My 12 year old granddaughter will be using them and other honest and factual resources when she begins writing papers for classes. I mentioned this to one of the private school history teachers I know and he started buying up sets on CL.
You can buy them cheap, 25 bucks to maybe 100, all day long. People think the kids can "Get it off the net" which is exactly what the progressives want them to do, the web is full of revisionist history.

AWESOME JOB!!!

I bought a Britannica set recently at an estate sale, 10$. I have my World Book set that my parents had for us kids. Wrote many reports with that set.

I have a collection of "how-to" books. They range from basic survival skills to rough carpentry. There is also a small collection of...more detailed...and slightly less than common, miltary type books. Some are government, some are not. Those books my kids have not seen. God willing, they won't need to. Depending on the course we maintain though, I fear they'll need them.

The future is unclear, but the past is set. Even if certain people try to erase it from memory, does not change the fact that it happened.

I said it in here once before.. A friend of mines dad when the internet came out said the words “This is how history will be rewritten.” He was absolutely right

It has only been the past few years that I have given any thought to the internet being the new religion...followed blindly by the masses. I had always thought people would remember the images of book burnings. Maybe they do, but removal is not burning? I guess I gave too much credit to Americans. I thought they would remember where this began, and how it was made. Then again, they tried to stop teaching that, and are now trying to hide it.

My folks bought the world book encyclopedia in the early 70s . I would read those things and the fascinating facts for hours on end. There was also a giant dictionary.

I was 11 when my parents bought the set. Not exaggerating, I read them from A to Z. I've always loved to read. Currently I usually do about 700 pages a month in military history, mostly WWI and WWII.

Had a set in the 60's. I read them front to back during my school years and the parent's always got the annual update volume.
Sold or gave away most away when I got married since the wife already knew everything! :p :p 😁.

Barnes&Noble will have them pulled already. I've noticed they seem to be the leading edge of cancel crap. If you have any Mom&Pop places, they will be the best shot.

If this becomes an issue, I'll start reprints!

The "Cat in the Hat" was black...Thing 1 and Thing 2 were yellowish with blue hair...seems pretty inclusive to me.

The word you are looking for is Diversity..
that is what it’s being called now. It is the absolute right to hire not the most qualified candidate but now the Blackest.
What do you think is worse for any person of color, yes white (technically it is the absence of color, but..) is a color too. Not getting the job cause you were the least qualified or getting the job just because they need you to meet a quota.
