Anybody have an idea how to bend this hook back into shape? I thought I would just replace it, but it seems I have to replace the whole cable. I can’t find a good replacement hook or the part to cinch the cable back into a loop through a replacement hook. I thought this would be a lot easier than it is turning out to be for my limited skill set and even more limited hand strength.

I can’t get it near a vice since it’s still on my trailer.. Maybe someone in Havasu has some sort of tool to bend that thing.

Seems easier to open up the other end just barely enough to slip the cable out and do the same in a new hook and close it up.
I dont know what strength loss you’ll have bending the large section all the way back.

Nothing about that seems easy 🤣
You’re probably on to something with the strength loss though.

I’d get the mini grinder out and cut off the other side to get the cable out and try what what @2Driver said with a new one. Maybe overkill with the grinder.

Block of wood, piece of pipe, big hammer.

Put the hook around the pipe, so it won't close up too much, and hammer away at it!

It's probably stainless. That's pretty tough stuff to bend!

Put it in that expansion joint on the floor and hit it with a hammer.

You do do know it's stronger now that it's been bent.😅

Grab something metal with a flat end surface that will fit between the ground the bottom of the trailer. Crank up trailer, insert said metal object in between trailer frame and the hook on ground with metal piece pressing where you want it to bend. Slowly crank trailer down until desired bend is achieved. Then grab a beer and admire your MacGyvering.

Logic suggests, simply do the reverse of whatever you did to get it this way 😂

I've done this using a jack and vice grips to hold it and to keep it from flying across the room or burying itself in my forehead 😁

Put it in a vice, heat it up with a torch (map gas will do it) then use a box end wrench over the end of the hook to bend it back. Don't try to take it out of the vice with your bare hands, use pliers. Ask me how I know.

460 channel locks. Plenty of leverage.. and maybe a little heat.

If that is for your breakaway brakes, just replace it with a latching caribiner, plenty strong to activate the brakes

Stick it in the hole for the hitch pin and use some leverage or a hammer to bend it back.

Just cut it off and go get a small caribeener or a removable chain link. I know you're attached to your hook but sometimes you just have to be brave and let it go.

I'm pretty sure that's your safety brake cable right. You can also order a whole new cable and hook from shadow trailers I believe pretty cheap and just swap it out if you're still wanting to keep the hook look.

Grab a couple box end wrenches and slide the box ends over the hook...positioned right, they become levers

Ignore all these wannabe DIYers and just take it to Shadow Trailers (or another trailer shop of your choice) and watch them fix it.

The end of Crescent wrenches work good as well. The hole is small for the length of the wrench...leverage is better than the same size box wrench.

None of this would be an issue if Havasu had rack storage just sayin
