It has really helped me to regain some normalcy in life. My Dr. will only do it every 3 months. I have an appt to get my second one next week. I started noticing the pain back a couple weeks ago. The Dr told me that the shots can cause the cartilage to breakdown, but in my case there is no more cartilage left.

The shot is really not bad compared to the hip pain. They do it under an x-ray so that it can be injected directly into the joint. They first give you a shot or 2 to numb it, then they do the cortisone. There are some YouTube videos on it.
Cool thanks

How long do the shots last?

Everyone is different...

I had one for a stupid sinus infection. The next day, the pain I had (for ages)in my back, just disappeared! I felt like I was 18 again, nothing hurt anywhere!

I'm going say it was maybe a year for things started hurting again? But not to the level they were before the shot.

Downside? That shot hurts like a mother fucker!! The pain sets in a few minutes after they give it to you. I almost passed out from the shot pain.

Totally worth it though. 😝

Best of luck on the hip surgery!!!

Hey AJ, bit of encouragement here. My sister had both hips replaced (at different times) and on both occasions she she was up and at it in a matter of days and by the following week was working out at the gym. She was 70 at the time. She said she hasn't felt that good in years.

A (bit older) coworker finally relented and had his hip done. He felt so much better afterwards, he scheduled surgery for his other one as soon as he could.

He fell down at the Holiday party 🥃🥃🥃 and I felt like it was in slow motion. All I could think is oh shit, he‘s only a few months from having his hips replaced. Bastard popped right back up laughing his ass off. Golfed 2 days in a row that weekend as well.

My coworker had hip problems for years and finally had hers done. She regrets not doing it sooner afterwards with how much better she felt not limping around and thinking about all the times she didn’t do something in life because she wasn’t mobile enough. You’re gonna do great afterwards.

Finally got a shot today in the hip. They say in 24 hours I shouldn't feel any pain. Their thoughts are replacements last maybe 10 years so hold off as long as you can.
