Rear view mirror and heat problem.

So I got me one of those rear view mirror camera deals.

The problem:
My OEM metal "anchor piece" that attaches to the glass detached and came off from the heat / extra weight on the 2nd day.

The shop reattached it and the same damn thing happened again.
It hasn't even been that hot in California.

How do you Arizona and Nevada boys keep your mirrors on in the summer?
Anyone else have this problem and find a better glue than Pep-Boys offers?

Call a good glass guy. If near HB, Kotto is great and used to "abnormal" stuff.

Good luck, I had a windshield replaced...had the truck 15 years after that windshield replacement...2 days after the the original replacement...the rearview mirror fell off, and I mean after many professional attempts, then my attempts...never could get that mirror to stick for 15 years. Sold the truck with the mirror behind the driver's seat.

High powered magnets on each side of the windshield will hold it

fabricate a bracket that is attached to the structure above the window that is covered by the head liner. Mount mirror to bracket. Never an issue again.

Well, looks like I'm fix'n for a shit show!

I have some ideas knocking around and found a few different glues to try.

May ultimately have to make a bracket like mentioned above.
But

3M 5200 silicone. It's used for permanent bonding of metal boat hardware above and below the waterline to fiberglas...scuff the metal with 220 sand paper a bit and have a go with it.

Maybe etch the glass then glue it. Pretty sure there is an acidic paste you can buy at Hobby Lobby or online. Just google glass etching paste.

I had the same issue(same mirror too).
First off, I made an adaptor to mount that mirror directly to the arm and eliminated the oem mirror weight. I then scuffed the glass with sandpaper where the tab gets glued on and used MarineTex adhesive, scuffed up the tab too. That shit works good, it held together an intake manifold for me for several years.
Over a year and half in with the mirror now and so far so good.

Careful that shit is like anti seize, it gets everywhere.

Lightly sand the area under the mount with 600 grit sandpaper. Make sure it's clean and dry and use superglue.

Loctite rearview mirror glue and primer, 736 primer, and 312 glue, rought up the metal and clean thoroghly with rubbing alcohol, let dry, then do not touch with your fingers.

Edit: Let the metal tang cure for a few days before hanging the weight of the mirror on it.
