CNN says the reason California is losing people is not high taxes, regulations and cost of living but COVID deaths, less immigration and less births. I’d say the latter is due to people my age living there can’t afford to have kids in that state.

Lol. And people rely on CNN as a reliable source of truth and fact? They are nothing more than an in-house propaganda arm for the liberal democrats socialist party

I understand that but thanks to my google chrome app their shit pops up constantly when I open new tabs. Does anybody not know of the mass exodus from that state?

The birth rate variable has been trending for some time. Here is one example.

“What's happening in Arizona is an extreme example of a wider trend occurring across America. The "total fertility rate" in the United States, representing the number of kids the average woman will have in her lifetime, sank to an estimated 1.76 in 2017, down from 2.12 in 2007. (This isn't the lowest point, however. The nation's birth rate reached 1.74 in 1976, after a huge spike from the Baby Boom, when American women had more than three kids each on average.)”

Which has virtually no relevance to what is occurring in california right now

Sure it does. It is just one of many contributing factors.

Income and fertility is the association between monetary gain on one hand, and the tendency to produce offspring on the other. There is generally an inverse correlation between income and the total fertility rate within and between nations. The higher the degree of education and GDP per capita of a human population, subpopulation or social stratum, the fewer children are born in any developed country

I was reading an article in the National Enquirer that said Big Foot was spotted water skiing across Loch Ness, being towed by a flying saucer while Nessie was sun bathing on the shoreline.

Still more believable than CNN.

If they legalize all the illegals they’ll pick up about 10 seats.

They’re counting them in the household numbers and the population still augered.

It’s only a matter of time before those riding on the wagon outnumber those pulling it.

It’s not a complex issue but any liberal will try to make it one because addressing the real issue would admit failure on their part.

I would think the "wagon" pull to ride ratio is already askew. Regardless of the number of "millionaires", how many are paying 50-60% of their earnings? The super wealthy "left" have always been the front runners on how to evade, and the wealthy right do the same...hell, I would just based on principal!

When I was making what I considered good money, I looked at how much was being taken. This wannabe Robinhood BS, take from the rich, give to the illegals, addicts and lazy F'ks, didn't sit well with me. I remember telling my accountant that "I just supported an illegal family of 5 last year"...He shook his head and said, "no, but you almost covered their healthcare"

The entire tax code is being written by the wealthy and supported by the legislature here in California. It’s a total smoke and mirrors shenanigan.

Because Liberals are sheep and do as there told it’s an easy move for Democrat leaders. This state has been controlled by wealthy democrats for 30+ years and the population of the middle class is spiraling down

The wealthy don’t pay any taxes at all, the middle class does.

The wealth gap is a serious issue for my state. Let’s agree to bump this thread in five to eight years and see who got it right, me or Rodnjen...

Apparently all we need to do is to make sure our pull-out game is weak so we reverse the birth rate trend 😆

Well, I hatched my three kids there, then took my lower/middle class out of state. I didn't take much tax money with me, making a lot less...but a lot happier!

Pretty much the same here. I REALLY miss living at Naci and the friends that we made there and all, but the bullshit going on there and in the state, SOOOO glad we got out when we did.

It was 3 of the 4 Hatchlings were there.

can’t afford to have kids
kids are an inherently expensive proposition.
done right, they will absorb every ounce of what is available, and you will gladly fork it out on the hope that they arrive at adulthood prepared and aware.
FWIW, it is good that people find a locale they can afford and are happy with, and if CA is not that place, it is good that the truth of that personal choice is realized and acted upon.
people need to make a home of where they live.
as far as a CNN perspective...meh. just another voice in the stadium. we all get to choose whatever and whomever we 'listen' to, who we discount. bias is an endemic human trait.

They’re leaving alright.

How many more died each day in 2020?
40,538 more people died in 2020 than the average of the previous three years.

That represents a sobering 111 more deaths each day, on average, than normal.

Hahahaha - So according to this logic then 1.8 Million Californians would have died of Covid in 2020. Seriously ???? After the whole Russian Collusion Scam and the Non Voter Fraud Narrative people still actually listen to the Communist News Network??? 🤦‍♂️

Of course blame Covid. Why did other states see their populations increase then?

Its unfortunate our state government ran with such a flawed Covid response plan last year when it was clear Covid was not as deadly as originally claimed. Perhaps the extra 11-12k people that didn’t die from Covid could have received the help they needed, and tens or thousands of seniors wouldn’t have contracted Covid and died due to fatally flawed policy early on that put infected seniors with healthy seniors and infected and killed them all.

So your premise is that covid actually created population in other states? Because these states had a net increase in population.

I like that you choose varied sources for information. thanks for maintaining an alternative when it is not easy to do that.
do you feel any of it might 'stick' with the members who commonly reply negative to anything you post?

Thank you and no. I use it as an opportunity to educate myself. It is a waste of time to worry about whether it sinks in for others.

Because it is cheaper to live. It happens every time we have record home prices, people leave.

A guy at work neighbor had a open house last weekend in YL. He said it was packed with buyers during the time they were showing the house. The lady was the original owner.

So people are leaving due to the circumstances in CA and you would disagree with CNN's statement that people aren't leaving due to the high cost of living.

What is driving that high cost of living? When we have the highest gas prices in the nation and other taxes/regulations that are amongst the highest or most restrictive in the country, do we think that money just comes from nowhere? That people paying the bills aren't sick of it and trying to get away from it?

When do you finally admit that the Democratic party and their policies are not attractive for people just trying to get by and cannot lead to economic success in the long term?

True for most.

The fact that all you typically come back with are one-liners tells me you can't adequately defend your position and can't effectively engage in the discussion. Pretty much zero value added around here.

If by some you mean 98%, then yes.

There is a reason renting a Uhaul one way OUT of CA costs $2000+ and renting one only way INTO CA costs $100.

It is not because of fertility.

Yep
When I rented the 26’ almost 2 years ago it was about one third the price to round trip it from Vacaville to Havasu than to one way to Havasu.
It was $500 cheaper to drop it in Vegas if I wanted to.
I think they wanted roughly $2300 for one way to Havi
My total after dead heading back to Vacaville (which was better for me because I had my boat and tahoe to one way still) ended up being about $800 all in.

And it took 2 days to even rent the big truck in CA due to non availability.

I can afford to live in CA...... I no longer wish to live in a state that caters to illegals ,homeless and convicts.

I would rather my taxes go to infrastructure and nice schools and parks for the kids.

My yearly racing budget is the difference between CA state income tax and AZ.

We were shopping in laguna Hills/Niguel in 2017 and decided it wasn't worth it. It wasn't the cost of a home. It was high state income taxes and shit public services for us tax payers like the school system and the non existent bus systems for the kids.

It's just sad. The very definition of Mediocrity.

I've made a decision to not worry about shit I have no control over. So we stayed in AZ and it's turned out to be the best for our kids. Sadly my kids don't care to go back to SoCal anymore. They'd rather go to Florida.

Good luck y'all!

I'm very happy with the schools here, and our local city government. That is really what is keeping us here, so we will see if that erodes or what over the next several years.

Moving and magically having the extra budget to race is something I still think about.

When my buddy moved to IDaho last year he had to rent the truck in Vegas and drive it to Orange county to load up. They wanted 4x the price for a California truck one way.

You should have had your buddy explain to the Uhaul associate that the high demand for moving trucks going one way out of California was only because of the lower fertility rates of the people inside CA, and that there was really no need for the 4x higher price because no one is moving out of CA.

I bet he would have got a huge discount!

The 5 X 8' Uhaul trailer I rented was over 1K one way. All those trying to do IVF fertility treatments needed some handout money! Uhaul is such a charitable and caring entity to help all those in need.....LOL

I want to move an unassembled pool table from my house in CA to my son's in TX. I got a 1-way quote of $700 from Uhaul for a 4'x8' box trailer!!! (They give you 7 days).
It's $20/day for a round trip rental!
