That's a pretty broad spectrum of class of vehicle, hard to compare a mini suv (evoque, trail blazer, venza) to a body on frame 4runner.

We just went through this, on the list you have there I would look Palisades (if you can find one) or CX9

Look at those full size kia and hynduai SUV’s, some of the best.

for some reason the Korean cars were the only ones at the LA Autoshow that had blown out carpet for some reason. That was a real turn off for me. They looked worse than the carpet in my 18 year old Chevy pickup.

The 4runners are really nice if you can stomach the price, and out of that list, its the only car that will have ANY sort of resale value.

Used Tahoe or Yukon that fits your budget in 6 months when demand catches supply.

End the thread.

My 4runner is worth more today than I bought it for 4 years and 60k miles ago... but yea it is basically like driving a 2004 Tacoma :)

4 Runner, Explorer, or Cx9.

The rest are crap.

If you plan on keeping it for any length of time, hands down the 4-Runner.
Can't beat the reliability, cost of ownership, and re-sale value.

CX-9. Last year we picked up a CX-5 Sport (base model) for a kid car. The car is very solid, comfortable and performs very well for the intended purpose. I drive it around town often with a couple of trips a month to Temecula to visit family.

We have two other “luxury” SUVs that we really like. That being said, for the money the Mazda may well be the best car we own.

@Bpracing1127 we are on our second CX-9 and have been really happy with them. The one we currently have has captain’s chairs for the second row. We never use the third row, but there’s quite a bit of room back there with the third row folded down. I did have to put rear brake pads at 30k on the first one we owned, but I probably could have gotten away without doing it prior to turning it in.

My dad has a Jeep GC and I really like it, but the Mazda has considerably more room inside compared inside, especially when you factor in car seats. The Jeep we had to move seats forward when my boys were infants, the Mazda we did not. I know your soon is a little older, but I think that speaks volume to the room in the second row.

If I had my choice, I would have done a Yukon/Tahoe, but it didn’t make sense for the 7500 miles a year my wife drives.

The Telluride and Palisades are both made in Georgia!

^^^ this

Get a 4-Runner if you want a new vehicle with 2010 technology. If you compare most Toyotas with other mfr's vehicles especially the Kia/Hyundai you'll never buy the Toyotas

Throughout our buying process, it it really shined a light on how far behind the Japanese manufacturers really are. They have gotten lazy with their innovations, the tundra hasn't been redesigned in 15 years.

Hyundai/Genesis appear to be where Toyota/Lexus was in the late 90s.

We found a Cadillac we like and a couple cx-9 we like. The 4Runner is sooo dated for the money. Like going to pass on that and the flex

It wasn’t on your list- but the Lexus gx460 is like a 4Runner with more tech and luxury

You should consider a BMW. My wife has a X5-X40i and it's phenomenal! It checks all of the boxes and has been problem free.

Id buy another Flex in a heartbeat!

That said, we have out grown our Flex and would consider picking up an '15-20 Suburban

My girlfriend wanted a Grand Cherokee, and then wanted a wrangler until she started looking at crash test rating and neither of these score well.

The Explorer STs are cool but the used market is limited and the new ones are out of our price range.

We are now looking at 2015-16 Yukon Denalis which can be had for about 40k with under 70k miles, these have a great crash test rating and plenty of room for a couple car seats. The 6.2s also run strong.

This is what we ended up with as well. 2020 X5 M Sport, but it is a lease.

For <$40K on that list there is only 2 vehicles I would consider. Either the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Toyota 4Runner. The only problem with the 4Runner is they are on a truck chassis and ride a little harsh for Mall Crawling 🤪
