Well thankfully we are at the END of a crazy 4 day adventure, and I have to admit it was a little unnerving.....I sold my wife's car a few weeks ago and have been looking to get her a new one. I find what she wants and it is up in Carson City, we say what the heck we will take a week off and stay in Tahoe and kill 2 birds with one stone, so we get to Carson City to pick up her car on Friday late afternoon and the smoke from the Caldor fire is just amazing, looked like we were in the middle of a snow storm. We get her car get up to Tahoe and the entire hotel at stateline that we always stay at has smoke floating around the entire hotel, nothing they can do about it either. So I keep telling her that I have a bad feeling if this fire gets to a certain area we have to get the heck out of there, my gut is rarely wrong and she agrees. Crazy thing is that we just saw that special on the Paradise fire and how waiting ended up in almost epic disaster for all the residents and I said I will never be put in that position if I can at all avoid it. Anyway, we are supposed to be there for about 10 days and last night only 3 nights into the trip I just cannot enjoy the trip and my gut is bugging the hell out of me, I told her we have to get the hell out of here ASAP, and she agrees...we pack it all up at 10pm but were exhausted and I was not going to risk driving that tired so we tried to get some sleep til daylight, got up first thing and left Tahoe, during the night I kept getting up and seeing nothing but packed cars and trucks with what ever belongings people could pack up and were flying out of the area, police and fire department flying towards the fire with sirens blaring, and I almost woke her up and said we have to leave NOW!, anyway we get out of there, get back to Vegas 9 hours later and during that time our friends that run the Casino/Hotel told us thank GOD we left when we did because just a very short time later the streets were jam packed and traffic was not moving as more evacs where called for, thousands of cars just stuck for hours (I pictured Paradise fire scene where everyone was stuck in their cars and were going to be victims of the fire). So after getting home, I check the news and our area got evac warnings and notices just a short time ago...I hope and pray all our friends near the fire get out safely and that if it has to happen that only property is destroyed and GOD spares life. That was our exciting and seriously stressful weekend...
