I have started this thread before on another board, and I think once years ago on here.. but the search came up pretty dry for me.
That being said, I have a 10' Schiada and a 12' Schiada. These boats are heavy for their size, and I'm looking for some good power to weight ratio small engines. Reliability is key (so some clapped out race motor that isn't gonna start everytime isn't an option) Electric start, etc..
My old one had a tohatsu 40 on it.. I felt it was a little underpowered. I would like it to be a little "over powered" to be blunt, and I can put a restrictor on the throttle if a kid ever drives it.
So that being said.. Suggestions?
I know they race the tohatsu 40 in a stock class, I think it's called "FAT C" and then some unlimited class?
Would a fat C motor be appropriate?
Or should I go with a newer technology 4 stroke? E Tec?
Suggestions.. and any "Power to weight ratio" charts that compare outboards would be great.
