It's difficult to ask for a handout. I know I couldn't do it, and I'd (like you) be doing what I had to do.

But.........

Those of us that are parents and have already raised our kids, know what's ahead for you.

So please...

Give it some thought and allow those of us that know what's coming and Want to help, do what we want to do.

Don't consider it asking for a hand out. Consider it Allowing us to do what we want to do.

😊
One of the big things here is most of chose to have a kid or at least had 9 months to prepare and figure things out. This is basically on over night thing.

There is 0 shame in letting the RDP family help out. Not much different than a traditional baby shower.

Zelle would be best. Instantly available to the receiver. And less fees. And it's not public notice. Just set up a bank account just for that reason. Jmo

The Owlet is a great idea.

@Shlbyntro I’m not sure if we still have ours but if we do I would be glad to ship it to you. No more kids for us (I hope)😁
Welp, I got home and told the Fiancée about my noble plan to re home our Owlet and she informed that it broke and that’s why we stopped using it…

I’m more than willing to pitch in for a new one!

Thankyou everybody for the offers of everything. I am pretty much set for Marlee's immediate material needs but will continue to need consumables and will have to eventually upgrade her from a basinette to a real crib.

What we are/will be in true need of help with though is child care. I will effectively be a single working parent to my niece and I need childcare to continue to be able to work. I plan on helping to fund it with the sale of some of my toys, but if somebody would like to set up a childcare fund for us, I would gladly and graciously accept the help from my RDP fam

To all you parents here.. what is the timeline from a "bassinet" to a "crib"?

Super stoked for you and her!!!
It won’t be easy but it will be the best thing to happen to your life!

We’ve got two boys otherwise I’d put together a care package for ya.

Two words to consider:
Au Pair

Ours starts in a few weeks.

Good babysitters want $15/hour.
So we’re money ahead with a live-in caretaker versus paying babysitters 40 hours per week.

In our experience it wasn't that long... FB marketplace is where its at for that kind of stuff though.. Changing table probably needs to be a priority once he has her in Texas as well.
They make pretty affordable combo ones. The one we have is a bassinet, crib and turns into a toddler bed.

Very cool what you’re doing! Great that things are progressing in your favor.

I’d definitely put together a buy buy baby or similar retailer baby registry. The mountain of stuff to buy for newborns adds up fast! You pick the items you want, you get the items you want. Win/win!

Consider setting up an Amazon gift registry…great way for folks to send and especially ship stuff without revealing your delivery address to the universe.

The below is highly recommended 😊
We have another one that was super expensive and these are way better.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say he won’t know what to put on a registry 😊
Maybe people can post links or screenshots of stuff he needs, then he can add them to the registry…or get someone’s wife to manage it 🤣

Seriously tho there’s tons of parents on RDP plus a few recent parents like us.
We‘re building this airplane as we’re flying it…that feeling of “I have no idea what I’m doing” means you’re doing it right…but don’t be afraid to ask for help 👍

Even adding to the College fund would be a big help….

Mrs AceinTheHole and I had that discussion tonight after I got off the phone with Breck. @Shlbyntro might be a good idea...we have our old registry link and could get a good starting point by just doing copy paste. Lot of little things you don't think about until you need it.

With his employment needs and child care I thing child care cost are a priority and will be that for years to come.
Anyone here as a single parent and raising an infant/child nows this cost a fortune and hope that you get the right individual that you can trust to do so.
Good luck and we're backing her all the way to adulthood!

Maybe a nanny. That way it's one on one with child and not one day care person to God knows how many kids.
Damn good thought there @Rayson1971.
Damn good chance to get a competent paid samich maker in the house and send her on her way once your satisfied with the results. What an opportunity for all.🤣🤣🤣

Wow!!!!!!! Damn good thing you are doing. That little lady is going to have a great life because of you.
For what it is worth, my sister hires nannys from the college. All of them have been foreign exchange students that need a place to live anyway. Pays them a few bucks but provides a place to live and feeds them and they take care of her 3 kids while she works. Might be worth looking into.

Anyways, you my friend are going above and beyond. Thank you.

Talk to me about the genset.

97 300 Searay Sundancer. It has a “spot” for a genset. This too big for that?

Birth Certificate and Social Security came through today. 1 phone call in the morning and she is officially cleared for TX

I spent today meeting with daycare centers and also lookong for a pediatrician. Ive got my childcare narrowed down to 2 choices. One is more educational based and much more convenient for me but is slightly more expensive. The other seems more childcare based but is slightly out of my way. However, it is 100% all inclusive although I feel may be a bit overly coddly towards the kids.

They are both top notch facilities, neither would be a wrong decision.

The pediatrician was actually amazingly easy, my first choice was taking new patients and had an opening for her 2 month checkup. thankfully a buddys gf did some of that legwork for me and listed off the offices I should be considering.

Dr. Ross Prochnow and office were more than great for us with ours and other family’s kids. We moved at 2yrs or would still be using him 10yrs later.

thx for the tip! I already have her set up with Bee Caves Pediatrics. They appear to be a good spot and are a little more local to me as well

Hey everybody, the registry is up. This was curated for me by my good friend Joey and his gf (who are we kidding, it was all done by his gf).

I want to put out a special thanks to Lisa and her friend Courtney who put this together for me and have been rounding up gear all over Austin for me despite never being asked. They are not members here but I did have to mention them.

I also want to thank all of you who have contributed to the daycare fund. It is truly helpful in helping me to buy some time to rearrange my work schedule and work load to be able to accomodate what will be my new life. Im sure there will be some floundering the first couple months as I adjust.

Some of you have reached out via phone and PM with very generous offers of all sorts of gear. Thank you all!

I cant tell yall how hard it is for me to ask for help or even accept it when being offered, it doesnt come naturally to me as I am quietly somewhat of a proud person. It is one of my flaws. So thanks to everyone who have forcefully insisted; multiple times lol.

Holy damn. I’m late the party so to say on this one. But my allergies have kicked in for sure.
What you are doing and have done is just fricking amazing.
I’m at a loss for words. If most of us could do or would do what you are moving into. This world would be an incredible place. ♥️♥️
