I’d consider letting your wife have this one for $49,999. Deal expires at noon.

The last 5 yrs or so have seen the local LHC trails become so wash boarded, the ride in a Jeep is just not very good.

The TJ are all 2 door but they made an unlimited and that’s called an LJ ( long jeep)

Pic below is an Unlimited LJ. The difference is behind the door and rear tire is longer

So 2 names for these years the TJ & LJ

I have an 07 Jk with the 3.8, have 130k miles on it, beat the hell out of it, and can't get it to break so I can do an LS swap. If your patient, you can find a deal. I picked up mine for $11k a few years ago when everything else was $20k+

The most capable factory built off-road vehicle with creature comforts (leather seats, auto trans, AC, power windows, etc.) was the Toyota Landcruiser FZJ80 with factory electronic diff lockers. Coming in a close second would be the next generation, the 100 series Landcruiser of Lexus LX470, which got a V8 but has independent front suspension versus the straight axle of the FZJ80.

I get the appeal of the Jeep for sure, but dont count out the Toyota Landcruiser if you like comfort and capable.

This is for the wife to cruise on sand highway and maybe some mountain roads for the family
You need a GX470 with Califab treatment!

Or just buy a Gen2 raptor.

Here’s a pic of what a ‘13 JK 4 dr on 35’s and a good 3.5” lift will do.

Doing some more research I want a 2012 or newer for the more hp and longer wheel base.

Any problem years early like that?
Paid 15K for the LJ with 135K miles. Had a 2” lift with 33s. Put a 4” lift, SYE, gears, lockers, better brakes, engine / tranny skid plate. I went to pick n pull and pulled a tranny cooler off a chevy truck and installed that. Going to go 35s on the tires. All in all it works pretty well in the rocks.

I wouldn’t get her a TJ unless she’s a hardcore Jeeper. Get her a 4 door that she’ll be more comfortable on the highway in. TJ’s are kinda you love it or you’ll hate it type of thing.

With that said here’s a view over the hood of my TJ on Rice Road last weekend. I obviously love mine.

It’s has so much added bullshit useless technology it’s unreliable in my opinion.
LOL Google JL auto stop quit working as example. 13 pages of frustrated owners, $800 to replace both batteries, yes both.

I had. 1999 sport, auto 6 cylinder. Aside from a radiator and bad exhaust manifold as they all had, it was perfect. Sold it for 12k 10 years ago, I bet still with that, hard top just 95,000 miles.

A few months ago I got a 2022 Bronco Wildtrack. A huge step forward and above , but $.

In 2008 I paid $22 for an 05 rubi LJ 35’s walker bead locks on 4:88 gears 6 speed manual only 22,000 miles, now I think it has 32,000 miles - yes high mileage !

I like the 05 better because it’s a Jeep - metal dash !
plus it flexes like a gymnast at the Olympic‘s

2012 is my Prius - King coil over w/ bump stops! Take my dad to Dr’s appointments

@Bpracing1127

I don’t know if M is going to rally a Jeep out to the cabin, or meet ya at Comp hill!
yes to
bunker bar or desert bar!

Via the highway then turn on the graded dirt road.

they take some $$$ to make it work in Havasu to much choppy crap wash board SXS 💩 and No way they will keep up with a SXS, like 2-3 hrs to get to the cabin…
or get beat to shit..

and
the more off road friendly you make it the less fun they drive on the pavement ….

It’s the best when the Mall Krawler guys tell you how warm and clean they are in their jeeps after a day of hitting speed bumps and lighting up the far corners of the parking structure. 😁

LOL…..Think modern day appliances and how feature-laden, complex and unreliable they are and how your 25 year old fridge in the garage refuses to die.

The JL tipped the same scale. Spend an extra $2,000 for a 7 year bumper to bumper, put up with dealer repairs and hope you aren’t stranded somewhere remote. Sell it 6 months before the warranty runs out.

love the mall.

Jk was nice but the JL is 1000% nicer inside and with the 8 speed it runs way better.

The 2013 JK was trouble free and to an extent I liked how simple it was when compared to the jl. The jl has a ton of safety nanny’s that you need to get used to but the interior/seats and stereo make it a much nicer place to be.

My fil has a gladiator and within 1.5 years had a secondary battery issue. Mine is. 21 and has the e tq set up so it ditched the small battery and instead has a 48v big battery tucked underneath.

Just built up the Jl and took it out on its first run Saturday. 3.5” Rock a krawler kit and 38’s it went up everything with ease I was impressed.

We've had both and agree 100%. The worst thing is I can't go anywhere with the door open. Throws it in Park when I try looking out the door and inch along. I think if I have my foot on the brake it gets over it, but not 100% confirmed. I'm sure it would know if the doors were removed, but haven't tried that yet.

They need to repave that mall parking lot.

Looks like it is working awesome.

The door deal is super annoying...lol

It has to know or do something with the doors off? maybe there is a device to kill it.

I also find the seatbelts to be super invasive when climbing it locks you in and i cant see shit so i end up unbuckling.

I think a new jl with the 35" recon package would be a perfect daily driver/ trail rig.

It would go about anywhere and do it comfortable. I'm a dummy and always go to far...lol

You are not a dummy, just a baller. :)

sounds like you’re just looking for problems. It’s likely in those many pages there are multiple solutions which do exist for this issue and it’s not unique to jeeps as it’s used in other Stellantis products. The auxiliary battery is only for the start stop feature, which is useless for any owner. Simply removing the ground cable from the aux battery to the main battery and removing fuse 42 takes the auxiliary battery out of the equation.

And maybe it’s $800 to replace both batteries if you’re a numbskull and go to the dealership. I just replaced my main battery with an AGM from Costco. It’s an interstate battery and it cost about 150 bucks.

It was actually a problem that I was having so I was looking for a solution since there were no codes or battery low voltage indication. LOL That’s where I stumbled in the reams of pages of the issues with the system.

The trucks under warranty so 2 days at the dealer and 2 free batteries.
Thanks for the heads up on the cheap Costco batteries never knew that.

My response was chilly as I thought you were not a Jeep fan. My Gladiator is under extended warranty (over 3 years and under 10,000 miles) but I pulled the Aux battery's negative cable off the main battery and I pulled Fuse #42 which takes the Aux battery out of play. You can charge it separately and keep it as a backup or you can let it die or it can be removed.

I may remove mine at some point but for now it's disconnected. Also, I installed a Tazer which turns off the Auto Start Stop from hell "feature" - didn't want to push the button after each start.
