Out of sheer morbid curiosity how fast is the fastest boat ever to roll out of Schiada? 110, 115?

The mouth behind a shitada is much faster than the actual boat itself. ;)

Ask and shitada owner. They all do 100+ sitting in the garage on the trailer.

Take the fastest Vector , reduce by 10 mph then you will have the fastest Schiada speed.

The fastest boat to ever roll out of Schiada was probably that MTI that they rigged. :D

If I had to take a guess of one of the fastest ones it's gotta be Gary's red 21.

I'm not to sure on the fastest one but I would like to take a ride in a nice 21 RC before I sell everything I own including my jet boat to get one. :D

This has been an ongoing debate for years. I'm definitely no expert but I've been around a Schiada or 2 and have had a gps in a few and a radar on a few. Fact is a few exaggerate their speed a little. And I've offered up money as a bet to few of them with no takers. They are still IMO one of the classiest boats I've ever seen. My 22 with almost 700hp will only run mid 70's. Fast? No. But it rides good and is a kick in the pants to drive. It accelerates real hard which is more fun to me than a huge top speed. :D

Leonard Schiada did design a timeless classic......The 21 RC V-drive is by far the best of the best.....

The funny thing is that you'd ditch your shitbox stoker in a second for a Schiada! ;)

Since you have a vdrive if you did a re gear could you pick up a few mph? I know you'd lose acceleration but do you think you could gain alot on the top end?

Doubtful. Probably lose mph since I might not be able to pull a larger gear. The trick to these is to find that happy medium between hp/gear/prop pitch. I'm spinning an 11 1/2x15 pitch 3 blade right now to about 5900rpm with 18 gears which is right about perfect for my setup. More gear and I might not be able to pull enough rpm to get the motor to its max power range.

Are you just that heavy? Think you'd see a gain if you had an I/o? Cool boat regardless just seems like 700 should get ya more speed

How fast is 1500hp, 55 gears, 12x17 prop@6300rpm?

My old 22' v-drive 540TT @1108HP 38 gear, 11.5x15 prop@5800rpm=102mph

Colburns 20' v-drive 468TT went thru the kilos in the 70s @105mph, I think Spanjians blown 20 was about a shade slower.

I heard several of the high end built 21s, (including Lees Dads boat) claiming 118-120mph.

Dumb question of the day...
Vdrive gears... The higher the number the better acceleration? And the lower the number the better top end? How fast could a 21 rc handle before it became unstable?

Your turned around.... the higher the gear, more top end...lower gear, more bottom end/acceleration

Opposite. It stands for the gear ratio overdriven.

We were at Elsinore years back pulling my brother behind my Vector at the time. I remember a white Schiada 21 RC with very cool graphics i think called Renegade. They were making passes in the "no limit" lane so we just parked and watched. After they made several passes, they came idling by so we started chatting. They showed us a GPS reading of 118. TT boat.

I know that my flat has been in the 110 realm with my dad driving.

With performance apps, yes. But Some of the 24' spectras ran underdrive boxes. Just to keep things interesting.

Smaller diameter prop, more top end (I.e. circle boats)

Bigger diameter prop, more bottom end/acceleration....drag boats, circle boats....

Of course HP makes a big difference in setup as to what the motor can pull. I think TAF's can turn gears into the 50's....I'm not quite sure on that though

700 in an I/0 should be a hundred or close to it.

True...there are many different combos. It all depends on the use of the boat and overall setup

With zero prop slip it calculates to 157mph doing the math. The big variable is prop slip which partially is a function of drag

Interestingly enough that second boat calculated to 113mph with zero prop slip. It was probably pretty efficient.

10% slip and its still better than 140!!!

Hmm.. I rode in Lynch's boat at 113, felt faster than mine, but I wasn't driving:D:D... my pile has around 1000 hp, 38's in the box, 11.75 X 16.5 Menkins 3 blade. I can hit 5400 with a little more than half throttle, I've stood on it from there a few times but not about to look at the tach? Its a old beat up Spectra but I wonder???

Yeah, I'm curious to see what Alexi's new boat puts up for a number when he gets it dialed in.

Ya but I think it is more than 10% with a v-drive often times.

My thoughts are that lift from strut angle plays into it. If your strut angle is 8* then with 0*=100% and 90*=0% then 8* would equal 9%. Even higher when you include the boat carrying the nose. So I'm thinking that 10% loss just in this would not be unreasonable. Then factor in prop slip on top.

My guess is that this also gets worse with speed along with prop efficiency, which is the reason that it starts to take way more horsepower to go a little faster with a v-drive. It's probably also one of the reasons outdrives are so efficient, you can dial the prop angle out at high speed.

All in all I still love v-drives:)

Exactly. Prop is way under the boat on a v-drive. Out drive will always be more efficient. But getting one to live behind 1000+hp can be exciting. And expensive. :D

There is little doubt in my mind there are a couple of 21 RC's out there that would run in the 115- 120+ mph range.. Ms Meads is one of them. Lee's dad's boat would be another I'd wager would run that quick.. They have ridiculous power in them.

I'm not sure how much faster you would want to go in a v-drive.

Not sure why Linder is sand baggin.. Pretty sure in one of our "evening cruises" I saw that GPS reading 116, and we were nowhere near racing / Wide open etc.. Fully loaded from fuel to coolers. :D
