I don’t know if there’s a trick. I do what you do just pull it up and drop it and pull it up and try to swing it side to side. Sometimes it a major pain in the ass. If there’s a easier way or a trick I would love to hear it too.
I am inclined to say screw it and run it. But it’s probably safer, cheaper, and smarter to have it checked first. There very well could be a crack you can’t see that’s waiting to do more damage.
