I have a 2018 colorado with a 3.6 and managed to wiggle out the t stat without removing the intake manifold, I wanted to change the temp sensor but couldn't get to it so I gave up and put it back together. It did fix my fans stuck on though.

You should go ahead and do the t-stat while you're there.

The wiring for the switch where it passes through the fire wall can loosen and cause intermittent problems.
