My boat did the same thing when it got overfilled with oil. My dipstick didn’t get set right when I put it in so i re marked it and I haven’t had a problem / smoke show since.

My 24 runs great in small chop. It actually runs better in chop than it does on flat water. Of course a bigger boat would handle it better but I definitely wouldn’t call mine rough
