21 Scorpion restoration, re-core, hull modifications and carbon fiber, 102 MPH stock 300XS

Ya, the original boat is the 21 Challenger designed by George Linder. The Superboat was a direct copy of that and it's been copied many times over. Really good hull overall.

21 Scorpion restoration, re-core, hull modifications and carbon fiber, 102 MPH stock 300XS

Here is a really cool restoration of a 21 Scorpion, based on the Challenger. A new core, Coosa transom, Nida-core structure and carbon fiber parts, all epoxy resin. The owner did all the work, including fabricating his own trailer. He modified the bottom by widening the pad and adding a notch...

Riding in the fastest single engine V hull on the planet

So far zero evidence of any single engine pleasure or race V besting 148 MPH.

Riding in the fastest single engine V hull on the planet

An "aussie ski race boat" with a 5 passenger interior and 1100 HP probably isn't besting 148 MPH, even being significantly smaller. Not sure what you mean in respect to "production." None of the boats mentioned would be considered "production" from my perspective. I do love some of those...

Riding in the fastest single engine V hull on the planet

Quite good, with a sharp entry and reasonably deep deadrise. Some 28s have a ballast, making them quite good in some chop, the narrow beam helps too. The 25 is very good in a chop, especially compared to some others and considering it's easily the fastest in that size range. A Chaudron 25 is...

Riding in the fastest single engine V hull on the planet

There's a significant difference between 135 and 150. The aerodynamics alone are significant part. I'd love to see one of them run that fast, haven't seen it though. The Tuff is 36 feet overall, stock 1100, full interior pleasure boat. It's hard to find a purpose built race boat of any kind...

Ya, they are not fast boats.

Riding in the fastest single engine V hull on the planet

Sure. Is there a video or any documentation of it exceeding 148 MPH? Would be hard to believe with a hull like that.

Riding in the fastest single engine V hull on the planet

It's a great discussion. Thanks for the positive feedback on the video. I'm definitely not a videographer. I've been around a long time and just haven't seen a V hull pleasure boat with a single 1100 remotely close to the Tuff 34.

Not a chance. That hull just wouldn't be able to. The Tuff 28 and 34 is considerably faster than an OL SV29. There was a blue carbon Tuff 28 with a stock Merc 860 that runs 137 MPH and ran 125 at the Ozarks shootout, which is a short run. I love the SV 29, but that hull is not gonna do it

Riding in the fastest single engine V hull on the planet

Nope. The BAD boats and other race boats are impressive but not as impressive as a 36' (LOA) open cockpit pleasure boat running 148 with a stock Merc 1100. The boats with full canopies and spoilers and being 21' with more power... different category.

    I believe 22.5 degrees

Riding in the fastest single engine V hull on the planet

Ran in the 25 across the bay in the afternoon in a good chop and it was really good. Has a deep deadrise, I believe 22.5 degrees. That one weighs more than others as it was built with a supercharged Nizpro Yamaha in mind.

Here it is, 148 MPH in 1100 mode, stock seats, no aero hatch. Would love to see a faster single. Probably won't find one.
