Cleaning / polishing plastic windshields

I have a Hallett with the dark plastic windshield, my question is : what and how do you clean it and remove small scratches without leaving swirl marks ? Does car wax / polish work ?

I had my canopies done, he wet sanded 800g then 1200g, then 2000g then 3000g then used a micro scratch compound then a good wax. Aren’t perfect but are 1000x’s better than they were.

For routine cleaning, Plexus is good stuff. I've used the mothers plastic polish for plexiglass and it works decent. But if you want it looking new get it done professionally like stated above.

Meguires Mirror Glaze 10, the stuff in the blue bottle.

To avoid "spider webs" clean in verticle strokes.

If there is visible dust on the windshield, or larger debris, use you bare hand a water to wash it all down then let it dry. Then use a good plastic polish.

Don't use paper towels...

Step one: Meguiar Plastic Cleaner #17
Step two: Meguiar Plastic Polish #10

Your plastic will be beautiful and super clear ... pilots use these two products for their canopies and wind screens ... non abrasive so no tiny microscopic scratches .

These two products are like a vitamin for your plastic ...they feed the plastic and keep the plastic from fading and drying out.

I do this all the time mine are beautiful and clear.

One more thing that might be helpful ... where do all the windshield scratches come from anyway? Yeah ... you just wiped down your boat and you use the same towel on your windshield and you drag all the microscopic crap all over the easy to scratch plastic ... so tell your wife and kids to leave the windscreens for you to do and use a clean microfiber with Meguiars #18 ... #18 is Meguiars Plastic Detailer ... meaning when you wipe down your windshield and use #18 the spray encapsulates the dirt and microscopic abrasives that scratch the plastic ... it's kinda a lubricant that goes around the dirt and keeps the plastic from getting scratched ... that's why you never ever ever use Windex or any other glass cleaner cuz it doesn't have theses lubricants ... yes I take Prozac for my OCD

I was also told never use anything but (as stated ^^) a new clean microfiber towel, as well just a spray bottle with a tiny bit of soap (dawn) and purified water to clean.
