Anyone have one collecting dust? They are out there on CL but so many are hammered or have sketchy paperwork. Looking for something nice with a clear title and recent reg for the occasional trip down to body beach for this old guy to chase his youth.

I love the old school look of the 550’s and they ride ok. The 650’s just werent very good, I hate riding them. The 750 was a great ski and like night and day from riding the 550/650. I’d look at super jet of the same year over the 650.

I agree. I have 3 js550’s, a js440, a 650sx, and a superjet. The super jet is fun, dead reliable, smoother, little more power, etc.

I do love to jump on the js’s though. They make you feel like Superman.

We have a 91 650sx original owner. Stock except ride plate, helper spring, and hydroturf. Runs like day one. We are in the San Fernando Valley.

I like the look of the 550 as well how it's light and first ski I ever rode. Now they have front sponsons which help them out with handling and will be my next purchase plus some are dropping 650/750s into the 550s and using the 750 pumps as well

I rode the 800 when they came out and was amazed with it.

For sure ....800 you could ride dam to dam in parker middle of the day and survive. 650 sucked and with a 550 you would be whooped and wet...lol

Mine looked just Like yours and I sold it to a guy in Havasu. 2006 super clean and was registered in ca new even when they were illegal here....for a second I was thinking you ended up with it...haha View attachment 667579

I had a 750 swapped x2 that was pretty dang fun but melted the motor and sold it.

I’m pretty excited about this thing. Only ridden it once and just had this hitch hauler built. I’m hoping it will give me my Moto fix while it’s too hot to ride my dirt scooter.

I absolutely would have one if I could use it. They are heavy as shit so a little rough to solo launch.

I would rather get fit on a stand up than a gym any day.

I was hoping our gold cart would launch it but it was still too heavy with a double trailer.

I stole mine almost new for 3800 and sold it two years later for $4500 and I bet they are there or more expensive now.

I’m sure you have ridden one before but they don’t like it when you are riding wife out and chop throttle. They get a tad spooky and like to toss you. Kind of sucks to be thrown at 55+ mph...lol

Learned that program pretty quick right off the trailer the first day. Some pretty nice arnetts are still on the bottom of the river in Blythe [emoji12]

Rodney was cool. I checked that ski out in March. Just wasn't what I was looking for what he was asking. Enjoy that ski dude. Stand ups are the best

I'll be adding a 550 or two to our collection sometime....maybe next year. Something fun for the older kids to fart around on while the grownups are snoozing at the river. :D

Question for the gurus on these things;
I have a 650 I think 91 and as others said it porposes like a mad dog and I can't open the throttle up on it as it has way more no matter how forward I get is there a ride plate to help this and if so where do I find one? Also the superjets seem to be way more dough is there one that rides better for near the same price?

I ride all of the time. Started collecting 800SXRs so we could go as a family when the boys get older. Well it is about time.... I need to build a four deep trailor. :D I picked up a 800 -> 1100 triple conversion. It will do the job.

I have had a 550 for the last 20 years ago and it is pretty clean. I like riding it and I bought it when it was all I could afford. Before wife / kids / and any responsibilities. It reminds me of growing up on my lake back east. A kid down the shore got a brand new 550. It was awesome - a lot of fun.

Stand ups are great for the mind and body. A few years ago I had to pick up a pair of sea doos. When I have clients out - they needed something they could ride. They could not swing the stand ups. My wife cannot wait to sell the sea doos. They are a liability.

Anyway - if anyone wants to hit up body beach or Parker let me know. I even like loading them on the pontoon and heading north past the sand bar. It is a lot of fun riding that area.

Ride plates help. On my 550 it did the same porpoise no matter what. I ended up putting two washers to shim the rear of ride plate down and it really helped and eliminated the hopping.

Try standing towards the front more to get your weight forward.

Jet Dynamics plate helps a bunch, and you can add tubby sponsons to the front of any 550/650 and they will ride, and turn much more stable, and add confidence. I have a buddy in lake Elsinore that makes them for the old school stand ups and X2s. I will include a few photos of my 78' 440 hull with PJS 550 motor, and my vintage stock class X2 both with tubby sponsons...

Had a 550 in the 80's which I bought when I got out of college. Used to love to go ride with my brother at Bartlett or Parker.

When they announced they would no longer make them and the JS800ABF in 2011 would be the last year, I bought one just to have the option to ride again if I ever got around to it.

Sits in the workshop at home, never been used. I'll use it someday, the wife doubts it.........

Thanks I'll try this next week any pictures to see how low you went?

I can be hanging over the bars and it still does it I know it needs an extended plate but not sure what is best. I just think that I am too old and fat to do this but my 150 lb son has the same issue can't open it up.

Just 2 regular washers my guess is around 1/8 combined. You'll need 2 for each side at rear.

I have a 750, like to pick up a 800. Both my kids started young, this is my son in 2016 at age 9.... I still have my built 440 from 1988 and my sisters that is bone stock (gutless but be ok for my daughter). Gonna bring them home this winter and clean them up, they've been buried in my dads storage for 6 or 7 years.

My 90 sx started as a 500 dollar deal ran and still runs good did some minor glass work repainted, new skat 13/16,new bars, top loader grate, bilge pump, new crank seals, rhass engine mounts, jet trim mat,new pump seals bearings and gonna get some pro watercraft front sponsons a 650 engine swap when this one goes too but for now I use it at river for morning play or Belmont shore at home. And I think I'm 1500 into it but a lot of new so less worries

Just PM me when you need a pair, you can paypal me and ill ship them to you, they run $200 for a set, and all you need is some stainless hardware from true value, and some silicone sealant to install them. as far as a jet dynamics plate, I would go through Riverready21 on ebay he has good prices for the most part and fast shipping. I will shoot you pics of the measurements for where and how to place the tubby sponsons.

Can this be used on wave blaster and do think there would be any benefits in handling ?
