For those who have relocated to Havasu from CA, have you found good doctors there or do you keep going to your doctors in CA? Or have you located Docs in Vegas and or Phoenix? Is the medical care in Havasu on par with CA?

Thoughts?

Cheers, Steve

We kept our doctors in Kalifornia (HMO). We schedule yearly checkups over the summer when the kids are out of school. Use the Havasu urgent care for any other medical needs. Next year we are changing to a PPO and we'll start using Havasu doctors.

Nope, unfortunately the closest endocrine doctor is in Wickenberg. I was seeing my doc in CA till I scored a job in Tucson, plenty of docs there.

We’ve used the urgent care on mesquite and Sonora quest for labs though.

The Havasu hospital gave great care for my daughters BF when he broke his leg. We were impressed and they got him in and out in 2 hours on Xmas Eve with a splint and xrays on a CD. They called in a scrip to Walgreens too.

Good hospital in Kingman, and many specialists there.

If you need a script for sinus infection or basic every day family practice, the docs in Havasu are just fine. If you need a top quality specialist, you aren’t going to find one in Havasu. They may be visiting over a weekend or own a house or three there, but the best have way too much time and money invested in themselves to be located in a small town.

If I was moving to LHC. I would research the doctors big time...… when you need one is not the time to research. The hospital is good for requesting a helicopter ride to Vegas/Phoenix for stuff over their level...… the bad part is they don't recognize it soon enough or the hour transport time is too long for pt. conditions. I really believe they have the patient in their best interest. but it is what it is.

Thanks for the responses. It would appear that the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix is very highly rated, but is 3 hours away. It seems that there is a high turnover rate of Doctors at the local hospital.

Can not compare healthcare to a big city. Walk into Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and then Havasu Regional.

I guess it is a question of weighing the pros vs cons. I am dealing with my mom (Cancer) who lives on Catalina and getting her back and forth to Long Beach Memorial for treatment has me thinking about this issue.

Yes a big turn over and every 3 to 4 years the Havasu hospital has a new owner.

Thanks. Assume RCCH Health Care Partners is the group of doctors who had been the owners?

I watch helo's come and go from hospital several times a day, even more on busy weekends. Even to the point of watching two circle while a third was still busy loading/unloading.
I'd say Vegas seems to be the most common direction they come and go to.

One of the reasons why we are not sure about moving to Havasu 100% of the time. The healthcare I have in SoCal is top notch.
