Will Andy be filling in for Dennis the entire event or just today?
Dennis broke both legs 2 weeks before they left for France, Andy will be filling in the entire race, Dennis is still there for support and guidance.

Great thread and good luck!!

I'm sure you don't remember but I met you and your fiancé at the time at Blue Water after you raced before the Enduro. We all were playing blackjack, you both came up separately but I knew you knew each other some how due to you banter back and forth, so I asked and you filled me in.

Good luck, be safe and kick ass!! Go USA!

Brian. Please take some photo's of the boats from other countries and post them up when you have a minute.

I will try to tomorrow, and believe me I've been wanting to. We've been super busy with our own team shit, and the bigger reason, everyone for the most beenpart has keeping their stuff covered up. We have somewhat of a mellow day tomorrow I'm going to try and get some close and detailed pics.

Thank you. Looks like your having a blast (except the being sick part). And thanks to AZMIDLYF for the photos, very cool to see what the other teams are racing.

Holy shit what a bad ass day we had today. Other than all things family related today has been one of the best experiences of my life.

Started off with a fun day in the pits, the parade through the city (so incredible to be a part of this), and a great dinner with the family.

I'll start with the pits and the other countries boats and what they brought.

Belgium - their major manufacturer is the Bernico built by Nico Bertels. You will notice the blunt nose on these boats. They are too long per the international rules, so they basically build the same boat and chop the nose off. This makes them legal to run while having a longer running surface in the water.

I believe this boat is from Great Britain but not positive. One of their F2 boats
KIMG0134.JPG

Very light and simple set up

Now on to some Aussie boats. The Force boat named Strike Force will be pulling Ben Gulley the reigning world champ. I've heard rumors of the sticker on this boat to be in the 600K range. For starters this beast is powered by a 1550 Merc, accompanied by 2-#6 drives. the seats are carbon fiber along with a bunch of other shit.

The internet and wifi is terrible right now. I will pick up tomorrow where I left off.

The pictures are taking 4-5 minutes each to load...I gotta go to bed.

Race #1 tomorrow!

The Gulley family doesn’t mess around. Great family and great hardware. There is a reason he is the champ. I am hoping for great racing for all competitors

After the city parade, and opening ceremonies we went to Le Bungalow for dinner again. We've had good luck with this place and the food is great.

3 of us got the chicken, which is really a Cornish game hen. My mom got the seafood bowl with all kinds of greatness in it.

The parade through the city... What a great experience for everyone. We left the pits as a Country filed in and began or walk to the city hall. All through the streets of Vichy, people were out everywhere. From ladies hanging out their windows banging pots and pans to the masses of people cheering us on. I can't describe the feeling to have this honor in representing the USA. Not going to lie when we got to my parents, my glasses started to get a little blurry. I could see the proud smiles on my family's faces. Even France would change USA when we were parading by.

Women's race #1

Holy fuckin shit Batman!
The gnarlyest water I have ever seen in person. Wow. And then add 10 more boats to it for the men's race and it's going to be huge water. The pictures don't do it justice. Congrats to team Belgium for their F1 win and Australia for F2

Good luck today. Do you consider shortening your rope length in these conditions?

Those water conditions will certainly be a horsepower/boat speed equalizer, not a boat race.
Such a pretty area, out of curiosity I checked real estate listings. Found a nice country estate with a nice sized pond, 7 bedrooms and 5 bath on over 18 acres
for around $ 850K US :D

Well today didn't exactly go as planned on the men's race. We had some very unfortunate bad luck with our boat, moreover, the prop. We took off in the second flight on the pole. Made it 1 lap, and the boat slows to a stop. I see them trimming up the outboard. Observer looks at it, and gives me the slash across the neck... We're done. They pull me in and much to my surprise our 5 blade prop, is now a 4 blade :eek::mad:

That was the end of race #1 for us. By the World's Rules, you have 4 races discarding 1 race, so your points are based off your best 3. I have to make the next 3 count:cool:

Horsepower had no impact on that course....it was how much your skier could handle that dictated speed. Some really bone-jarring water out there.

I had them made before we left on a prayer that they would be the right size! Lol
