Last year I was runnin my 76 Hondo Pantera, I believe the gearbox was low on oil and got hot.
When I went to service Casale it was low on oil, filled it up and the over flow looked like mercury.
Just pulled this morning, can't wait to see how fucked I am...should be able to split in morning...bearings gears...I guess we well find out...I will update

Should be fine bro . As long there was some oil in it it will be fine . My hall craft was the same and when I split it every was good . If u need anything for it call Tom Bentley at menkins as I had a horrible experience with casele. Basically high priced me to get the fk out . Tim was super helpful and has called me numerous times and ask how it’s running . As of last time I ran it it developed a small leak wher the lock out shaft goes into the drive and called him and he told me to out and send it get it fixed an won’t charge me . Oh and he’s a wealth of knowledge and schooled me on best set up for my boat . Fingers crossed and good luck

Does that bearing feel rough or bad when you spin it? That bearing would have to be almost seized to gall on the shaft. It looks like you are running water through it and its not uncommon to get water past the gaskets which then ends up inside the gear case. The oil looks milky, maybe its just the picture.

I have had the same situation happen and the v-drive got warm also. Run a good gear oil and don't run water through it.

I would think the tolerances wouldn't be that tight, but what if the bearing bore is worn a little deep. On blower end plates I've had to shim them to get the rotor endplay set in the case. With those gears being a helical cut, they have to thrust apart, but I don't know if they'd start to hammer the case. May see if there are depth measurements for the bearing plate.

Thrust is out. Input bearing is worn or shimmed wrong.
Been a long time since I pulled a casale apart though.
Love those Pantera bottoms. Friend of mine had one in a brendella. One of the best riverboat bottoms there is in my opinion. Until you start traveling over a hundred, lol.
