I'm in the market for a used well maintained 3/4 work truck. Must be 4x4, 6.0 or 8.1 gas engine, can't justify the repair costs of a diesel and don't tow often enough to need diesel. 4 door preferred extended cab may be OK depending on the vehicle. Power windows and door locks a must. Truck must be white. Have a couple on my radar from CL, but I always seem to see nice well maintained pickups for sale on here so thought I'd take a stab. I'm in Menifee, CA. Could possibly travel to AZ for the right deal, but I'm in a time crunch so it'd really have to be the right deal.

Thanks,

Evan

Nice truck, but not looking for something lifted. I'm seeing things in the $11.5-$15k range. Looking at a stock 2010 for $10.5k and a 2003 with 8.1 for $12k this weekend.

Never mind mine is lifted, 6” lift with 35’s

My buddy has an 02 with the 8.1 and Allison trans. I talked to him a couple months ago and he now has over 400k on the truck. He drives it every day and has never had anything go wrong with it other the one alternator.

I have an 04 GMC 2500HD with a 6.0. It has been a great truck. I would try to find one with an 8.1 (which are hard to find). The 6.0 is a great engine, but the mileage isn't much better than the 8.1(if at all). So you might as well have more power.

Very nice truck, but I'm dead set on no diesel. Even thought yours has all new injectors, just the cost of the trucks themselves is about $10k over a similarly speced gas engine truck, and the cost numbers just don't work for my use.

I think I found my truck thanks to this forum. Richard @glamis0812 reached out and we've been communicating back and forth. Thanks all!

I have the stock stuff off my 06 2500HD if you are looking to put it back to stock height.

RDP for the win once again. Purchased a 2002 Chevy 2500hd from @glamis0812 this weekend through my want ad and his response above. It's as clean as it can be for an 02 and hit nearly every single want I had. I was hoping for a short bed, but everything else about the truck sold me. So far, I'm actually really happy I ended up with the long bed. I've never owned a LB pickup, and thought the extra length would be a pain in SoCal parking situations. A benefit with the added wheel base seems that the truck rides much smoother on the California expansion joint freeways. I think a set of fox's from Cognito and some Deavers for the rear will make it ride even better. I wasn't really wanting a lifted truck, but with the retractable amp steps and the look/style of the truck, I decided why not. Thanks again RDP and Richard!
