My father and Grandma both use to ski on them back in the 60’s and 70’s we lived in Temple City, California where the Vogue headquarters was right next to where the Rose Parade floats were built. I’m going to make a cool old display of Vogue Skis on my back patio. I received my first donor last week. If anyone has one laying around they don’t want I would be happy to take it off your hands, condition doesn’t matter.

I have a couple, pre-concave, but won’t part with them. Too many great memories.

On a side note, there is a touching memorial along the road just north of Buckskin. One the people involved in the accident died. His family made a memorial using a red, white and blue Vogue.

Edit: The memorial ski was a Taperflex.

That's awesome. My grandfather was Sam Romano the owner and creator of Vogue Ski. I grew up at the shop in Boulder City. Unfortunately my grandmother sold the business when my grandfather passed in '96. I have quite a collection as well and been wanting to display them as well. I get people all the time drop off their old skis or even their parents old skis to me. I still have about 10 "brand new" skis that have never had a hole put in them. Love to see and hear peoples old stories about their old skis. Keep us posted on the progress. I look on CL or ebay every now and then looking for some of the unusual ones.

Oh, and i still have most of all my grandfathers machines and jigs for building the skis. Only thing i dont have is the press, but thats easy enough to make. Always dreamed about making some new ones. Just dont have the time, money or space....

My former brother-in-law worked for Vogue (Sam) for decades (Temple City and Boulder City) -- he was the Vogue ski-maker. He still lives in Boulder City and you can occasionally catch a quick glimpse of him riding around town on this three-wheel trike. Not sure, but he might still be working a little at the Bass Pro Shop.

I use to go and pick up skis for the store and your grandmother would be.... by hand varnishing the skis with a simple brush....your grandparents were always very kind to me.

I grew up in Arcadia and went to Vogue often. Good luck to you!

My dad's old Vouge. Needs bindings. But too much sentimental value to let it go. Plus it matches the era of my MTR.

For me it was a Velmar in 1964. 8 years old and could not get up in Emerald Bay at Arrowhead. Then my dad came up on the weekend and said just put your back foot in the binding and don’t drag it anymore.

Bingo.

back in the early and mid 60's we would ski all summer long as long as I was in the So Cal area. Marine Stadium back then was great during the week. Every summer we would make a trip to Clear Lake and ski all day long. My favorite back then waa short (~5 ft) Taperflex.
