I bought a regular cab 1996 new and spent some time and $$$ at traders. There was another shop in Los alamitos that was big at the time and that's where I first had a 2/4 DJM drop installed followed by a 5/7 belltech as I started making more $$$. I can still picture the big dollar all done up trader trucks at Selman chevrolet just like this one back in the day. The 350 x cab trucks like this were way above my pay grade but I loved shopping...haha

haha that brings back memories. Installed a DJM drop in high school. Rode like complete shit but got me low for cheap until I could afford to do it right.

Put a Duramax in it. :D
I remember an extended cab SB, lowered in a white with green graphics with a dmax. It towed the guys matching “show” 454 SS and was quicker. We had an in house GM engineer when we were developing the ZZ3 that had a hand in the conversion.

There is a decent amount of them out there.

Original owner, '93 has 60k something miles on it. Came with 17" Boyds , changed to 20's and 22's a few years back. Took out the 2nd row bench and it now has 4 buckets with the 3rd row bench.

If anyone is interested, I have a lead on a 1997 1500 (Vortech). Extended cab, 2WD and completely stock. Has leather interior, hard bed cover and has always been garaged.

Best part is........42K ORIGINAL miles. Absolute cream puff.

Guy wants $12K for it

I bought my 69 and sold it about perfect.

I was an idiot and sold my 98 2dr tahoe too early and too cheap dam things are selling for 20K now

Missed the boat on square bodies playing with my 69 and i always wanted a 2nd generation camaro and they were dirt cheap 5-10 years back.

Nice find. It’s not east to find a square body that’s been loved with period correct upgrades.

Don’t put 20s on it, because then you’ll have to put a matching raiders decal on the window.

I’ve been shopping for a 91-99 dually for a while. I’ve found a few that almost cut the mustard, but I’m very picky about what I want.

If done right I think they can look really good with the right set of 20's. Not sure i'm going that route if I did I would still keep the baby billets and switch back and forth depending on the situation.

Truck goes to Simons Autobody monday for bumper and hood re paint. After that I am going to replace the chrome grill, lights and lower plastic valance so it all looks new.

I'm just going to cruise it as is for a while.

You could probably find a decent set of 17" wheels on Ebay or CL that wouldn't look as bad as a set of 20" wheels. It would still look like a 90's truck but better than the current 15" wheels. Just a thought. Nice ride though!

Yea the 17s and 18s look perfect on these trucks.

Even these US Mags would look great on it.. 18X10 in the back and 18X8 in front. They are a couple hundred a wheel.

Those do look good I like the Billet specialties speedway as well in that price point.

18's would probably be a good happy medium...For now i'm good unless someone has a cheap set lying around...lol

They are new....The guy was nice enough to make sure the tire pressure was good before I drove home.

I got home and checked them and they had 55 psi in them...lol:eek::confused:;)

Those things wear down the center like they are overinflated even if they have 25PSI in them. My dad used to get so pissed the center of the rear tire was bald and the sides still had 2/3 tread LOL.

Love this thread! As a 20 y/o I had a '94 Chevy extra cab 5.7. Pulled off all the mouldings and badges with my sisters blow dryer. I spent alot of time @ Trader's it was heaven and the catalog was awesome. I bought a Beltech 4/6 and did it in my driveway borrowing tools from the neighbor...notched the frame and everything. Ordered Boyd Turbo Techs in a 17" size with a 17x10 rear size with a 315 tire (in 1994! I got laughed at because everything was 15" with balloon tires and I said I was goin euro style) put on rear air, clear corners, and a speed grille. Bought the little GM mirrors for like oldsmobile or something when I heard this is all that Traders was using, painted to match..light quasar metallic blue if i remember correctly the name. I bought a tonneau cover from Daco when they made the ones with the Chevy bowtie recessed in the back of the lid, I think they only did this for a period of 1 or 2 years only it was trick! I went on to order underdrive pulleys, Doug Thorley nickel plated headers, and used a shop in the SFV to run a 3" straight pipe thru my hollowed out cat and dumped the exhaust to a huge Flowmaster and ended it before the rear axle. I had 4 Wheel Specialties on Sepulveda put in 4:11 gears. It was a beast and I loved it. We spent alot of nights hangin out at terminal island, and the street races under the 5 @ sylmar. I went to PAW on Topanga one day and bought a drag cut out Y connector and put it before the passenger door, then those fun street race nights I would open the plates and run straight headers..and shot flames regularly! I shaved the front cowl and went with no wipers lol! I pulled the computer out and sent the chip to be done by I think SuperChips if I remember, sent them the specs on my measurements of tire heights, and some other specs I wanted. Those were awesome days, thanks for starting the thread!

I love this thread, I am a huge fan of these trucks, I had a 92 Suburban, 99 K2500 Suburban (I just gave it to my nephew and am regretting it) and my daily driver is a 2000 C2500 crew cab short bed with 371,000 miles on her. She runs great but she is tired, was playing a game to get to 400K but I think I will drop a crate engine in this spring before we tow the day cruiser again. The Flat Bottom is no issue but was on a very steep ramp in Parker last May and gotta admit I was pretty dam nervous.

I'm pretty sure I have a set of SSBC 2 piston calipers for that thing if you decide to make the brakes not suck...

Nice truck, just finish the details to your specs and drive it. As you know once you start tinkering it's like a run away train. Drive it to Dino's this year and you could make some Bank .
