Im pretty much decided (we’ll see how that goes over with the wife:) ) I’m doing a couple of solo, low profile Glamis runs.
Mostly to do some testing and tweaking.
I have a banshee that has been a back burner for quite some time.
Managed to over the years throw a new front end at it, swing arm, a mild stroker engine, and a new fuel system at it.
That was since 07ish after it being in a coma in the tool shed for a few years with a broken engine and wasted crank.
Through out all of it, I never rode it.

The last couple years I’ve dragged it out there in March for an annual trip with friends from out of state.
In two trips I have less than 4 gallons of fuel through it.
It’s almost frightening, lol.

I need to dial in
Castor
Camber
Front shock compression
Rear shock compression, rebound and damper.
Gearing
Tire pressure
Tires..considering going to a 10 paddle.
But that would lead to more gearing..

Then there’s jetting. It’s safe fat at the moment. Not fat enough to foul plugs putting around for a few miles, but blackish Brown plugs.
This is the least of my priorities.
Getting the tire/gear/front end dialed is of primary goal.

Am I nuts for thinking it’s ok to camp somewhere along canal road by myself?
No dogs, women...worries, lol. :D
Just a dude, an EZ up, a cooler, a tent, a tool box and some tires, and a Banshee.

If your staying near the road. Not going deep into the dunes have at it.
At least if you had an issue your close enough to not end up on a missing person report. Lol

Big group of us headed out oct 25th your welcome to join. It’s camp rzr that weekend so it will be nuts.

I usually do at least 1 trip a year just me and my chick. We stay on gecko, and usually stay near sand highway. Just in case. Last year I centered my rail on a dune. That was fun. Lol

We get solo guys almost every year that end camping near us joining on rides etc.

Camp rzr...
Thanks for the heads up and invite!
Nuts it what I seek to avoid, lol.

Not planning on riding any farther away than I’m willing to walk back to camp to get the truck:D
It is a banshee after all;)

I know a few spots along the canal road I could camp and have access to some different riding within a mile.

Depending on how it runs?
Maybe? Osborne lookout and back along the highway-ish:)
No farther than I’m willing to walk, lol.
And no deeper in than I’m willing to drive my tank to retrieve the quad.

Currently running a 14x46 which is 3.28
Your gear is 3.25

I’m running a 20x11x9 8 paddle hauler currently.

It boils tire on a second gear leave, not enough poop to do a 3rd gear leave.

Not sure if I need more tire?
Less gear?
Tire pressure?
It’s like starting all over again, lol.

What is the engine in your bike? I had a big bore stroker (450cc) and ran 20x10x10 hauler extremes. Yes the 2nd gear start provided some tire spin but worked well. When I was really feeling froggy I’d launch in 3rd

Is a mild stroker, 4mm
Compression is about 160
I run a 50/50 pump gas and C-12
Maybe I just need to go on a diet to pull off that 3rd leave:D

Ok.
I had to grab a flashlight and go back there and check.
Apparently I’m running a 14-42...
3.0 gear.
No wonder it struggled to pull a 3rd leave:D

Looks like I need to buy a couple of rear sprockets, a new chain breaker and an extra chain.:)

Will probably load to front sand/razor tires too.

Sounds almost legit to me. All you need to add is a twist grip throttle and beer.

I would sort out jetting before I do the suspension and gearing. You want the engine to be running the way you want it before you start tweaking the other stuff.

I’m down!
A small rental trailer would be well worth it!

The 15 year old ran it pretty hard, man!
It’s a fun bike.

Dave said he didn't think he could hang...

But then I told him...

Larry is older that the both of us!

Then he said...

Lemme know when you are going.

:D:cool::p

Umm.
:D
I’m pretty sure.
Well. Never mind.
Probably going to try and coincide with the next full moon.

Tell Dave I took the Amp link off my banshee so we should be good.;)
Pretty sure Banshee and Amp Link are both like bad curse words around the Merrill house:cool:

Got the receiver rack program for the van. The cr would ride nicely. Im ready to go. Just no time.
Plus, Im pretty sure my kids would never ever forget or forgive me if I did a trip without them.
Ooops. Full moon tomorrow. New moon 10-27.

I'm always up for a Glamis trip except Holidays and big functions weekends. Not so much because the shitshow that goes down but its so hard to find a spot to camp.
Ghost camps, people leaving junk to hold spots and land barons taping and cone-ing off huge sections it's harder than ever to drop anchor.
BLM plays favorites and rarely enforces the 30' rule.

But off days I'm usually available.
