My wife just texted me, and I guess her mother took a trip to Mesa. Well my wife asked if I could take the day off and we can meet her mom in Prescott for the day. This is all news to me, but i figured it would be better to drive up tomorrow night, Instead of Wednesday morning so it's not a complete rush rush. Did I mention that I found out about this 30 minutes ago? I'm not looking for anything nice, but not a shithole either. Any suggestions?

My house is more along the lines of "shithole"...but you can park your horses out back;)

Hassayampa is a cool old place with history, and walking distance to the square and Whiskey Row. There is also the hotel/casino on the hill, can't miss it. Pretty good views of the surroundings, but the hotel seems kind of 80's or 90's Laughlin. It's a 5min trip to downtown from there.

We always stay at either Hampton inn or holiday inn express in Prescott valley. Both very nice..We have a tradition to hit the courthouse holiday lighting every year. Bar hop then sliders at the Office.

Your house sounds right up my alley...I guess I should define shithole. One time I was staying at Primm for one of the offroad races (Whiskey Pete's), and my bathroom looked like a murder scene, I defined that as a shithole lol.

The newer stuff will be in the middle of town by the Walmart/Car dealerships and Target. But the old stuff by the court house looks cool and historic. Plus easy walk to restaurants and bars. Good time to go there. Weather will be nippy at night. Nice during the day.

I always camp in the pines just up the road when I'm there so can give any advise on an actual hotel.

Used to love the old Birdcage before the fire. Always played on the shitty pool table they had. Found out why it was never level. They rolled it under the stage all the time at night for the band to make room for the dance floor. Saw a local van halen tribute band years ago. Funniest thing ever. The visual did not line up with the music. :p

Going to save this for later for a staycation type of deal. MIL texted us saying not to bother, as it is last minute. I still wanna go check out Prescott, but on our own not emergency time. At least I can enjoy it now instead of feeling pressured for time. Taking notes.

I did tell my wife (let's actually plan) and we'll fly and surprise her mom the day after Thanksgiving in Chicago, so that's what we're going to do. Flights aren't too bad.

High rollin' in hotel rooms:rolleyes:

Last race I remember, spent most of Friday evening/early Saturday dropping the pan and swapping oil pumps...lit off the motor at 3am to make sure she had pressure...then passed out on the trailer. Woke up well after the start of the race. We were broke ass kids...now we're just broke;) Was a lot of fun in the 90's though.

Some years back I used to help pit for a friends race team. I was following him to Bakersfield and I kept hitting my windshield wipers, it finally occurred to me to stick my hand out of the window and see what the hell was getting on my windshield, it was diesel fuel. We pulled over in Mojave in the middle of the night only to discover his fuel filter split. We took my truck to Victorville to see if the walmart might have a fuel filter, (they didn't). So we tried to epoxy the filter to get us at least to Bakersfield, we didn't make it. The leak came back before Tehachapi, some people passed out in the trailer, and us youngsters drove into Tehachapi and waited for Autozone to open at 8am (at this point and time I've been up 24 hours). I have no idea where that Chevron station was in Tehachapi, but it was probably the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had (sleep deprived) definitely kept me awake. Autozone opened and we grabbed a new fuel filter and hauled ass back to where the truck was parked on the highway. Threw the new fuel filter in the truck and got to the hotel around 11, passed out on the floor of the hotel for 3 hours and got to tech. We qualified great that night, and we were running up front until we got crashed out for the night, that was the end of pitting and racing.

Try the Springhill suites by Marriott on Sheldon street, only a few blocks from downtown. Close to restaurants and whisky row.
