One bad ass Z-car. He is part of a crew that went around the USA street racing for charity.

Nate Schaldach from Fresno, California decided to fast-forward this combination to 2019 and shove a 427ci LS-based engine into a featherweight 260Z. Nicknamed “Z-Unit,” the 1974 260Z has been as far away as Kansas for no-prep shootouts, and is a consistent runner in the My Maleree Mae foundation’s West Coast no-prep events that helps raise money for children with cancer. What’s even more interesting is that the Z can be set up for any type of match race, and has different gearing and suspension combinations for 275 radials, 28- or 29.5-inch slicks, or 32×14.5s, which are the car’s “big tire.”

My brother built a 240z with a 350 back in 86. The thing was unbelievable then, can’t even imagine 1700 hp. His ran in the mid 10’s if you could keep the tires planted.

Those are some interesting cam specs on the car. Article needs audio, I'd love to hear it at both idle and full song:)

Not that anyone would remember (or care), back in the mid-1970s Bob Nordskog put his Competition Center crew in Van Nuys on a mission -- to standardize a 240Z engine swap kit for a small block Chevy V-8. It took the Comp Center guys well over a year to assemble every part and piece (nuts, bolts, clamps, hoses, etc., etc.) needed to do the swap with a detailed instruction manual on how to do it. It was a cool kit -- probably too expensive -- but cool nonetheless.

I've heard of it, but never actually seen a car done with one. Just out of high school in the 90's I did a couple...stupid, those cars were nice, and I butchered them:oops:

I've always liked the Z series. My dad had them in the 1970's, before he made real money. I had a 1971 240Z, brother totaled it. It was stock 5spd. Wish I still had it, an engine swap would be awesome.

Hooker Headers made a complete kit, motor mounts, transmission cross member and diagrams on where to cut.
