Imagine you’re cruising out in the desert and suddenly this well lubricated, breathing, hot throbbing, one eyed beast comes into view.
Wife sees that in our bedroom.

Damn, Bildoe snuck in again.

Any of you ever been to the railroad museum in Sacramento? They have some real pieces of history also. I have been twice and am looking forward to going again as my son gets a little older and can really appreciate it.
Speaking of things like that, there is a tractor and truck museum in Woodland California that is also quite impressive.

Old Iron, you just have to love it and be fascinated by it.

You all a bunch of Foamer’s right @Kachina26 lol
I get pissed when I see the camera shots from the gage, now every asshole with a camera thinks it's cool to try to set up the same shot. Then at minimum, I get the trespasser reports. And on a bad day, I gotta shut the whole thing down while they pick up the leftover meat and toss it into garbage bags before hosing down the rest of the idiot.

I live in the east...unless CSX wants to pay them, it will not make it here. I do see the "fruit express" from with UP loco's on the CSX mainline near my house.

What's the deal with this? Are they moving it to a different area or just doing like a history rolling tour?

On a side note, I always LOVE seeing the old touring cars that are privately owned going up and down the coast every once in a while. There's still a handful in use out there. Cool as shit.

It was fully rebuilt in May and is the only running locomotive in that class out of the 8. I believe they are circling union Pacific's territory before mothballing it again.

Don't hold me to it but I heard 2 months ago they will no longer move private cars . They said there was a small window to get them where you wanted them bit then you were done .

I had fun chasing this steamer down. I have a lot of good pictures and vids. Told the wife I'm going to build one of these in 1 1/2 scale.

Bummed I’m going to miss this. Waited my whole life for one of these to roll on the rails again. Damn. There’s a big boy sitting in a park in Cheyenne, WY i saw in 2004. Super cool.

My mom went to see it going through Victorville last weekend. Said it was going a good clip!

That would be a shame. I was told the private cars were either owned by family of original R/R founders or super rich donators to the various lines. I'll see them still going up and down the coast. Especially during the Ventura Co. Fair in Aug. Seems there's always a few coming and going up towards Santa Barbara direction.

Yeah AMTRAK did announce I think last year no longer pulling private cars. The cost was 18X the fare. Shame.
Must be another way.
Use to occasionally see up until last year HUGE private trains roll into Union Station LA. So long in length they actually cut the train half way down and rolled that section into a siding. I think that still happens.
I've googled to find these trains. Elusive, don't find much but they are really old school nice. Bad ass sometime pulled by steamers.
I suspect private, low profile, baller kinda clubs with bank to spend own them.
