I usually use the weekends to travel from one factory to another but an added set of meetings kept me in Saigon over the weekend... So you know what that means.

Much safer than he would have felt 50 years ago

I've known a couple Vets that went back in the late 90's. They were outdoors types, and wanted to see the countryside as spectators. They loved it...even recreated a picture on the Delta from 1969

Safe is a relative term.

I feel absolutely no threat from people at all. The food and water is 95% OK. The odd bug is going to happen but the effort to be 100% safe there takes a ton of fun away. (And the majority of the times I have picked up a bug has been in the Western style hotels).

The traffic however is borderline terrifying, and that border is behind you in some cases. The flowing river of scooters looks bad but isn’t actually scary when you are in it. The big trucks and busses are insane, they will, cut you off, squeeze you out and run you over. If there are traffic laws that apply to them it sure as hell isnt obvious what they are...
