The orange/black/red 25 in production has switched power from 400s to 450s. So your wonders will soon be answered.Am I the only one who watchs these videos and then wonders what two 450s would run for speed.
It’s an open bow so the the extra mph of the 450s will likely be cancelled outThe orange/black/red 25 in production has switched power from 400s to 450s. So your wonders will soon be answered.
Wanna bet? It’s an open bow so the the extra mph of the 450s will likely be cancelled out

I bet they both run 130 give or take a mph when dialed inWanna bet?

I know it’s light but the open bow will take 7-10 off the top endIt’s layup is FAR different. It’s gonna fkn fly!

I think that’s a fair assumption.I know it’s light but the open bow will take 7-10 off the top end
I guaranty the 450 boat will out accelerate the 400 boat all day, but as far as top end they should run about them same. Supposedly the 300r 27 speedster will out accelerate a 400r 27 speedster until about 80.I think that’s a fair assumption.
If we were talking 400R’s
The torque difference between those engines are the big win in the 450 camp.
In a pure hp/liter on paper deal, the 400 kicks the 450’s ass.
But on a torque/liter deal in the real world?
Consider the displacement advantage, and displacement = torque.
It’s “only” 100 hp.
And I ask because I don’t know.
Is there any published data on torque numbers of both engines?
That would tell the story on paper.
Time will tell the story on the water.
Thumbs up thingy here
I believe the 450’will pull a lot larger prop.I guaranty the 450 boat will out accelerate the 400 boat all day, but as far as top end they should run about them same. Supposedly the 300r 27 speedster will out accelerate a 400r 27 speedster until about 80.
It may not. If it were 400 to 400 comparison and the open bow and construction being the only difference, I would completely agree. But since this is a 400 closed bow to 450 open bow comparison, I don't think there will be much difference in speed if at all.I know it’s light but the open bow will take 7-10 mph off the top end
That what I was saying, hints why I said I think they will both run 130 give or take a mph.It may not. One thing to keep in mind is a cat will lose some top speed with an open bow because it can't carry the bow as well so there is more hull in the water on the top end. More wetted surface, more friction, less speed (assuming everything else is equal). Now with the 450 to 400 comparison we are adding about 250 lbs of leverage to the rear of the boat. Thus assisting the bow to lift which SHOULD result in less wetted surface and friction and give high too end #'s vs a open bow 400 boat. This is ignoring the extra 100 horsepower and unknown torque increase as well.
