Wonder what it’s going to be. Could be a viable product if done right and delivered as promised.

Our Edmunds EV expert Dan Edmunds, director of vehicle testing, tests out the 2016 Tesla Model X EV's towing prowess while hauling a 1,500-pound Happier Camper HC1 fiberglass trailer. After all, this electric vehicle does have a tow hitch and a 3,500-pound tow rating. Part 2 is the nail-biter of the test with 99.5 miles and 4,000 feet of elevation gain. At only a third of the way to Mammoth Lakes, California, the range prediction looks dire with a big climb ahead and no Supercharger detour option this time. Is the Tesla able to make it to its destination? This second day of driving 300 miles totals about 12 hours.

I guess the problem I would have is with their equipment / model at this point. I am a current Tesla S owner - they are not built for rugged work duty. They do not have standardized parts. You are not able to easily get access to parts even from them. So if you are entering into the 1/2 ton sport market you still need to be prepared for this scenario. My model S is performance, always washed / waxed, babied. You literally cannot slam the doors (it is a delicate car). I would be very hesitant to trade my raptor for a tesla pickup truck. The previous statement has nothing to do with power train or tow rating.

The Ram, Silverado and F-150 represent decades of engineering experience gained from hundreds of thousands of vehicles.

Tesla apparently thinks they can pop out a working vehicle in six months. Completely ignoring the power train deal, buying one and expecting it to equal the Ram, Ford or Chevy would be plainly stupid IMHO.

I’d rather have my model 3 than any car Chevy makes...with the exception of the vette.

All of these statements have merit but the simple fact they want to own the service / parts / supply exclusively on a vehicle model that is going to have a higher mean time to failure and overall duty cycle is where I have an issue.

Especially since their current parts and service organization is almost non-existent.

What, exactly, does that have to do with a Tesla pickup compared to the other three?
Do cars from those brands not have decades of engineering? Seems like tesla did fine without the experience

Izzat why it's near the bottom of Consumer Reports' purchase recommendation list?

Dang, shots fired.

Sledge hammer to the doors and not even a scratch. 9mm bullet.... no problem.

Armored glass.

God it looks awful though.

I tried to order it. Order page blew up! Either a bogus launch or they are overloaded.

Ugly as shit, but those features and specs are pretty bad ass! It’s priced right, surprisingly. Definitely shots fired at the big 3. It won’t win over grandpa, but I bet it gets a shitload of tech buyers, millennial truck buyers, newbs, and those looking for the next hot thing
