Guys, it really makes no difference to the DIMS, hell, they don't even know the definition of " progressive". In their " REGRESSIVE " minds, they can't comprehend anything more than one syllable .

Guilty.

Progressivism is the support for or advocacy of social reform.[1] As a philosophy, it is based on the idea of progress, which asserts that advancements in science, technology, economic development and social organization are vital to the improvement of the human condition.

But NOT at the expense of killing the Nation- fool . Your cult has NO justification of trying to run ANYTHING in this country, with your inability to reason anything.

I have to disagree, they do use more than one syllable words, they just don't understand "impeachment" or how it's used.

That's the technical definition. But in how it's being pushed as a change in governing technique, it has been altered to be the end all. No tolerance of opposing or varied views is to be allowed. It is more a Progressive Totalitarian form of government that is being sought by "your" party.

Just as I pointed out in your view of gun laws, you want a one size fits all with out relevance to individual rights.

It's in the urban violence stats when you drill down. Did you bother to read those findings? Like 93% of 1996 murders in Philadelphia were by folks with criminal records.

Why do you not address the facts that general population gun laws are not the solution. Addressing the issues of the specific groups of people committing the crimes directly is the only way to effectively stop the violence. Taking away the rights of responsible citizens does not change the action of the irresponsible citizens. If "your side" could understand that simple fact, and be trusted to use your common sense rather than your emotions, honest decisions could be made which would bring fair and effective changes. As it stands, no ground can be given or your folks will take advantage of the rights of responsible citizens. If you want compromise by all, you must take your emotions out of the decision making and be honest about root causes.
Because they aren't looking to fix the problem, they're just looking to feel good that they tried to fix the problem. Banning guns is the easy fix they can feel good about, because they tried. It doesn't matter that banning guns will not reduce nut jobs from doing stupid shit. These libs that want to ban guns are the same people that encourage the participation trophy because it makes everyone feel good about themselves.

The more the progressive change things via more and more government, the more they fuck up the best country the world has ever seen.....if it wasn't broke don't fix it. But unfortunately, we've been on the slide to socialistic fascism since that sham called the new deal.....

Then look it up. It’s been discussed here time and time again.

It was more of me pointing out the obvious, but you couldn’t see it of course. You won’t admit it but the number is tainted.

Interesting how the states with lower gun death stats appear to also be states that interfere in private lives the most, and tax citizens the most.

The safest place to be, where government helps you the most, is prison.

I’ll take my chances and live free, and I accept the sour and the sweet that comes with it.

Apparently not everyone in the state of Texas feels the same.

“Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo criticized Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Republican lawmakers for not reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act and taking action against gun violence, asking them in emotional remarks to choose between the nation's foremost gun lobby and "the children that are getting gunned down in this country every single day."

I have no idea what point you’re trying to make with a sensationalist CNN story that quotes Acevedo himself...he’s a criminal.

He doesn't know. He posts stats and other C&P, yet won't take time to think about what it is he's actually commenting on. I posted directly at him earlier on the actual folks who commit gun violence and apparently he hasn't found any one liners or liberal views that make a point. Like all libs, they want to take the easy feel good path of removing the rights of all, rather than address the folks that are creating the violence.

Again, I use the 1996 Philadelphia criminal violence stats as an example of where the problem lies. 93% of violent crimes were committed by folks with criminal records. Not the general populace who would be effected by proposed gun laws.....

I ignored your long winded post because you were talking apples and oranges. You pivoted from gun deaths to violent crime. Much of what you posted about major metro areas is true, but also not relevant in this context. A small percentage of violent crimes include gun deaths.

Holy shit... so do you think if we make violent crimes illegal it would solve the problem? I think the problem is violent crimes, not guns, and we simply need more laws here....

Horseshit. Murder is violent crime and is what the damned issue is about. Again true to form you ignore reality trying to push your liberal feel good demands that accomplish not one damned thing but infringing on the rights of society as a whole.

You ae not arguing the issue, but the semantics of how the issue is labeled. Using your narrow view, if a person is wounded, they don't count towards your C&P bullshit statistics you folks base your demands upon.

"Long winded facts" are too much for your short attention span once again. You ignore that the gun violence issue can only be solved by focusing on the group that commits the majority of the crimes, not some guy who punches paper with high powered rifles and hand guns.

Stay in your safe space and whine, ignoring reality...….

Poor fool has no idea of what he's talking about. How he can separate gun murders from violent crime is amazingly shortsighted, and plain pathetic......

Not for nothing Rod, but wouldn't you concede or at least somewhat agree using Hawaii as an example of how gun control works, is a bit of an anomaly? I mean, Hawaii is an island. Not exactly easy to smuggle in guns into the state. So, easier to completely ban guns or at least enforce gun control. I guess what I'm saying is for every "Hawaii statistic" of how great gun control works, there's a "Detroit Michigan" statistic of how feeble the laws are. Also, I don't necessarily agree with the statistics you posted because the CDC considers suicide by gun as part of the over-all gun violence statistics. Which, yeah, technically it is. But people will find a way to kill themselves with or without a gun. Really irrelevant in the "gun violence" conversation I think. You take away the suicide rate via gun and the gun related violent crime rate overal drops DRASTICALLY. Real conversation here, not attacking you or even taking away from what you posted.

I agree Hawaii is an anomaly, that’s why I posted the data including other states. We’ve all beat the suicide component to death, didn’t feel the need to restate. They could find another method but since over half are by guns, it is still worth addressing IMO.

Yeah, you're right. The suicide by gun thing falls into the category of mental illness and how horrifically FUCKED UP that whole arena is handled in this Country (in general). I think that could be agreed upon universally.

Yes it is worth addressing. Just because someone wants to commit suicide does not mean they are into pain. They are generally in a very bad state mentally and want a fast way out. Gun is instant in most cases. That still has NOTHING to do with guns being used in a CRIMINAL MATTER. So why include them with "Violent Crimes" or other types of gun related deaths without removing them from a criminal in nature statistic. Ohhhh I know... It doesn't fit the narrative.

What you think by taking guns away from law abiding citizens the suicide rate will decline? LOL They will just use some other form suicide.

Personally, I have no issues with Suicide. If one prefers to give up and check out, that is their personal business.

Exactly.

Let’s look at murder then and the precipitous increase since 2014 and the roll of the gun.

“The age-adjusted homicide rate in the U.S. has gone up in the last two years by more than 20%. The CDC's WISQARS database shows an increase from 5.05 murders per 100,000 people (in 2014) to 6.13 (in 2016).

This was due almost entirely to a surge in gun violence. The latest report from the CDC shows that gun homicides have increased by more than 30% during that time period, from 11,008 (in 2014) to 14,415 (in 2016), while the number of homicides by cutting/piercing and suffocation remained stable.”

https://www.acsh.org/news/2018/08/02/most-common-methods-murder-13264

National murder rates in large cities continue to fall while gun murders continue to rise.

He's so fucking stupid he thinks 120 million honest, sane gun owners should have their rights restricted for a tiny % of mentally ill people that need help.

There was a guy where I used to work with that stopped on the side of the road on his way home and stepped in front of a semi. He's just as dead as someone who shot themself, but he affected another who will never forget that night....not to mention coworkers who didn't see it coming.

So gun deaths ARE NOT violent crime? Are gun deaths hate crimes?

Did you buy into the local Wetzels Pretzels at the mall?

I'm with you Dave!! Who gives a flying fuck if some one wants to do themselves in, it's just more air for us to breathe. Have at it dipshit, make your mama proud, just go outside someplace where the mess won't matter and nobody has to clean it up.

I watched a friend of mine intentionally drink himself to death, stopped him mid suicide with an intervention but couldn't help when he started back up.
Absolutely horrifying to watch, tortured his wife to no end...
