The new house I bought is getting painted inside. I’m leaving the ceiling, doors, door frames and base board white. Most of our furniture is earth tones. The painter gave me a Sherwin Williams paint sample chart. Any color suggestions would be helpful

I suggest you take the color samples to a few new home models, and maybe a few home flips for sale in your area.
Find something you like, and match it to the sample. :D

Whatever color you pick, make sure it’s light. Nothing deep dark. Lighter colors make the room look inviting & bigger. Darker colors make the room look smaller and actually darker.

We went with Sand Dollar (biege) for the living room kitchen and hallway. We tried a lot of different tans. They smaller containers for samples for about $5. We used the low VOC Harmony to cut back on the smell. It worked well.

Lite gray is in.
We went with a light green color for our BR and family room. Other rooms vary in color.

Is it a brand new house? If so everything will look more modern. Go with light gray, and grays into a white color these are more of a cool color and will work with some earth tone furniture

If it’s a older home say older than 5/6 years go with an color you want /like. We had crabapple paint color for a few years looks nice and clean made the white pop.

We are currently remodeling our place the white /gray walls are popular right now you can see the difference in the wall to ceiling color and the door trim. This is going take some effort to keep clean

the bottom pic is the older crabapple color I actually like this color hides a lot and easy to touch up

SW Worldly Gray - just painted three rooms and I like it. Going to be the color in our new home in TX as well.

SW Agreeable Gray is lighter than Worldly Gray and seems a popular Gray from some articles I’ve read.

Here’s Worldly Gray:

Sherwin Williams Northstar. We did our last house in that color and really liked it.

Gray definitely replaced swiss coffee. I have 2 light grays I use on the regular. One is a earth tone gray that is more of a brown base and the other is a silver blue base.

Pick the color you want to live with NOW. Don't worry about what the next buyer wants.
live the the dream as paint is cheap.
As a flooring guy many moons ago, people put up with what they were sold and after so many years tried to predict what the next buyer would want.

This makes NO sense!!! :p

Taupe colors are the next thing. Beige and tan is way over, grays are so trendy there is an anti trend away from them. Agreeable Gray is the SW color we get asked to use all the time. It is still very popular.

Gray will be dated pretty soon. The warmer beigish gray will be in style longer.

We did agreeable...My wife wanted it but I thought it was way to gray even after putting some on a wall but it turned out nice.

“Spun wool” here. It def brightened up the house from what we originally had the normal dated tan color everyone was doing 10 years ago. We struggled to find a color that goes with our travertine tile. Couldn’t go too grey etc. Did a ceiling paint with a 50% tint as well so it’s not white white. Baseboards and crown is all gloss white.

Too many choices within each color spectrum. We humans apparently need options which creates this fuss over colors that are barely distinguishable between one another. Just pick one and move along.....lol:D

I have had customers buy 30+ samples and end up with the colors I originally recommended.
