Oh, and we got nailed by another hourlong downpour while eating, thatched roof leaked all over in restaurant. Hardly an issue, just adjusted tables/chairs a bit and ordered more drinks.:D
Stopped at a CircleK on walk back to hotel. Inside a miniature copy of my pup snoozing near door.

There's a lot of dogs around...on the beach, streets, inside shops, stores, banks, you name it they are there.. None really look mangy or sick, just happy. All have been friendly and sweet....

LaPlancha was last nights dinner. Jan had tacos I got an aussie burger

.
All the food we've had has been great. We have not dared to get any street food, been a few Aussies we met that have gotten "Bali Belly"(equivalent to our montezuma revenge) so we've been selective in that regard.
Off to our next destination today, Nusa Lembongan. A week on the small island paradise.

Lol, I'm not your typical FB food pic taker but Jan has taken a few though:D
So Janet just saw the CC statement from last nights dinner..... . Two dinners, 2 double shot grey goose/redbull drinks for me and two martinis for Jan.
It was a $Million+ Indonesian Rupiahs:eek::eek::eek:
$77 US:p:D
Which was actually kinda expensive due to it being a touristy area.

Yummy...so far.
I'm not a picky eater so to be fair I am not a very good food critic.

Like Ziggy noted, Bali is a great place to spend at least 1 week, then move on the other countries. This is a not a crazy expensive trip, but does take a minimum of 1 week to enjoy. I am in Indonesia twice a year, so jump in with any questions about travel to this part of Asia I will try to provide any insight. Ziggy, please jump in on this.

A few easy things to remember when traveling in this part of Asia;
1. Do driving, you can rent a scooter, but leave it to private cars and mini vans, cheap.

2. Hotels are reasonable, I would avoid hotels on hotel row outside of Denspar, too city like, sort of Maui. For families, or off beach yet a 5 minute drive, chec kthis out. We got a 2-3 Bedroom Villa, outside kitchen, huge, private with its own pool for under $200 a night;https://gendingkedis.com/
3. Make a stop at the main beach one evening on food row, a bout 10 kitchens cooking fresh fish, all served on tables at the shoreline, not fancy, but great food and beer. https://balisnorkelingtour.com/jimbaran-beach-bali-well-know-jimbaran-bay-seafood/

4. I strongly suggest flying Singapore Airlines. They use a modified Airbus, just 160 seats. From LAX of SFO, non-stop to Singapore, 2 hour layover, then a Dreamliner to Bali. Arrive about 11:30 am Bali time, 1 hours off of CA timezone. Suggest premium economy plus seating, food is endless bar never closes.

5. Booze, bring 1 bottle per person, any excess will be seized, always checked.

6. NEVER bring ANY sort of drugs aside from labeled prescriptions in a bottle, no MJ, possession is punishable by death, no joke.

7. Credit cards accepted most everywhere, never use debit abroad.

8. Always visit a second country, you are 9,000 miles away from CA, easy one is Singapore, stay 2 nights on the way back is a good adventure. Botanical Gardens, or city tour is a must. See the Surfboard Hotel, Westin is a great place to stay. If you stay in Singapore, ALWAYS take the evening boat cruise.

Other countries close by are Malaysia and Thailand, 1-2 hour flight. Tokyo or Seoul are a bit farther but not crazy out of the way, flight back is non stop.

$1 USD =
USDIDR:CUR
USD-IDR X-RATE
13,995.0000 IDR

For those who do not travel internationally, the US Dollar is very strong now. A good time to travel. US Dollar to IDR is up 10% from last year.

Snorkel trip today. 3 stops. One in a bay and two super bitchen looooooong drift dives, just let the current take you for a ride.
Underwater photography provided by guide, who was really attentive and took tons of pics(being emailed to us). I will say it was the best conducted and managed
snorkel trip we've ever taken. Their organization is big on reef/ocean conservation as well.
Aguaman Snorkeling Lembongan at the Blue Corner dive.

Relaxing day today. Just walked along beach and went into another resort for drinks and a swim. Kinda cool they let you in at any of the neighboring resorts. Some will have a "service charge" of a few bucks or simply a minimum purchase amount to use their facilities.
Couple photo ops today.

Rented a scooter to explore the two islands we're on today. Drive over a pedestrian suspension bridge(aka yellow bridge) to reach the smaller island and stopped at a cliffside bar (seems like there's one every 100 feet or so:cool:) for a drink and snack.

If you get near it, check out the Potato Head Beach Club. A daytime only resort, food food and endless pool against the ocean. If you have time go for the river rafting in the rain forest side, figure almost a day for that including the drive. Get a Bintang beer half way through during the brief stop in the river, while it rains slowly non stop at 83 degrees.

Potato Head Beach club appears to be in Kuta, Seminac. We were there last week. We head over to Nusa Dua this weekend then Sanur.
Some Aussies we met went there, wall coverings were old exterior wooden window shutters of every color, looked really cool.

Excellent food and tasty drinks.
20191219_173028.jpg

It then started pouring rain for about an hour and created a rainbow(which never show on pics well)
20191219_174905.jpg
Had to relocate inside during rain, bonus is we stayed longer and enjoyed a few more drinks and shuttled back(free) after rain stopped.

At dinner temp was around 91, real feel was 100. Very humid.
