Not Junior Johnson related, but NASCAR related - remember when the pit crews used to wear Coca-Cola pants? Check out those safety shoes.
That's when stock cars were really stock cars - Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday.

Met him once. 30 yrs ago in Daytona Speedway thru a friend.
At least he didn't l ive long enough to see the Sport he helped create die a slow death.

Jr.J. bent the rules, built his own cars and raced them. Those days are gone. It was men like Jr. who made the sport what I enjoyed.

...Well that’s pretty much a big bummer ...I had a phone conversation with him in the late 80s as in his stash of cars there was a 57 Chevy black widow ...a vehicle that was built specifically for NASCAR racing... and I was in the process of attempting to purchase another black widow that I had come across...he was just a very polite... good southern gentleman...real sorry that he is gone...
