I've got an 11 Dmax that hasn't had any problems since I deleted the DPF & DEF systems 150,000 miles ago, in fact, I'm still on the original rear brakes at 245,000 miles.

Have a 2015. So far only lost the AC condenser. It’s all over the forums but not an official “known” issue so it was out of pocket. Other than that it’s been a great truck.

Mine is a 2013, love it.

Since 95,000 miles I’ve been running an 8 oz bottle of OptiLube XPD at every fillup to keep the CP4 well lubed.

Where did or do you get that? I may need to start being preventative with my CP4

Prob going to add an air dog lift pump also
I’m running a Fass 150 lift pump on mine.

I used to get it directly from OptiLube with a $4.25 flat fee from the VW TDI forum, but OptiLube doesn’t ship direct anymore, so I get a gallon from either Amazon or Ebay whoever is cheaper at the time. For the first order get the pump and the 2 - 8 oz empty bottles. Then after that just get the large bottle, 1, 5, or 55 gallon drum.

My dad had a 2013 that was lemon lawed. The service writer kept having small things replaced hoping it would solve the issue. My dad hooked up the loaded toy hauler and took one of the techs for a ride and the tech said "Yeah, it's what I have been talking the service writer, it needs a new Turbo." Apparently something was up with the VGT system causing the truck to go into limp mode. But, it did that right from the get go and had they just replaced the turbo, likely wouldn't have been a lemon. My dad hasn't had any other problems with his older '04 or his replacement '14. Both dead reliable trucks.

You can still order direct from OptiLube website and yes this is the way to get started. Also they have the best price even with shipping the last time I bought.

I hear if that pump goes it’s a 9k repair

It is. I keep an eye on the class action lawsuit but haven’t seen anything new. Most of the diesel places have a complete kit to purchase that has all the parts needed if it happens.

I had a 2007 Chevy 2500 Duramax/Allison and only replaced one glowplug in 67,000 miles. I'd still have it today if it wasn't totaled in an accident. I took the insurance money and bought a 2016 Chevy 3500 Duramax/Allison dually. I drive that now and haven't had any problems at 26,000 miles. I love both trucks.
The Allison trans has a spin on oil filter, which I don't think the other transmissions have.

The past Allisons have the spin-on trans fluid filter in addition to the pan filter. $12 for the spin on at Napa, don’t lose the magnet that sits on top.
The spin on mostly protects the solenoids.

The new 2020 Ten Speed doesn't have the spin on in the video. Dunno if the as-built will.

The newer Dmaxs don't have the Bosch fuel pump that grenades.
Dunno if the Opti-lube-XPD should still be added but I’ll use it up anyway.

The 10 speeds aren't ACTUALLY Allisons. They are made by GM and to GM specs but Allison reviews the trans and the design before licensing their name for them. It's actually an overly beefed up version of the 10 speed found in almost all rear and all wheel drive GM and Ford cars and trucks.

Yep the guy I talked to bought the truck used and said 3 months in pump took a shit and scattered metal shavings through the whole fuel system..... I think that lawsuit should go in favor of the owners...that a Hugh bill to fork out for a design flaw IMO..

None of the w1000’s are true Allison’s but they are outstanding.
You may be mistaken about the 10 speeds other applications.
Several 10 speeds used by GM and Ford that are unrelated, one a joint venture and this isn’t it.

Thanks for the input. Truck sold last night . It was 13 with manual g56. I put two clutches in it. I put 2 clutches in it which one was smoked when I bought it. It had some egr issues which I probably should have solved and just deleted it. I was just always messing it with it from the day I bought it. Great truck I'd own another 6.7 Cummins for sure. I was right on the verge of having to do the ball joints to. Just time to move on to something different for 2020. Down to a 1 vehicle house now which is strange.

I’d look for for a clean 7.5- 10 lmm.

Pretty much same body style as a 13 but no cp4 issues and no def fluid.
