Damn, a 400 hanging off the back of her.

It sits nice in the water for having that much weight back there. Must be a rocket ship.

And to think people here complain about the price of a prop. ;)

My old boss at Advantage use to fly me to Blythe to do a little work on the race boat then he'd fly me back to the shop. The crew would leave from the river to whatever race was going on. I absolutely hate to fly and hate it more in small planes.

I think he did it to torture me.

At any rate, the front shot of that plane is pretty bad ass Wheeler.

I think the guy in the Meridian needs to try a bigger prop. His is kinda whimpy.:D

That’s Andrew Games Schiada isn’t it? Not an outboard guy but Wow they are making huge power with those things and they look a hell of a lot cooler than they used to.

That Meridian is not a Meridian but the newer M600. Much bigger wing, higher cruise speed, higher ceiling, more fuel capacity, more payload and a -42A PT6.

The SLS models will even completely navigate to the best landing option and land on their own if the pilot keels over with the passenger just pushing a button. The Garmin system will on its own aviate, navigate, communicate and then land perfectly on the centerline.

Also the only higher performance turbine that can be efficiently used by an individual on Basic Med as opposed to a FAA issued medical certificate.

The TBM is nice, but that M600 is a fraction of the price and a hell of an aircraft for the money.

Great pics for the winter. Nice equipment all around.

Is the G3000 available yet? Another great feature is automated emergency descent if pressurization fails and the pilot doesn't respond. That feature alone will save lives going forward.

Not to fuck up Wheeler's thread but the G3000 is available on the M600SLS and the latest Vision Jet.

Both with auto descent and auto land.

Besides, it's actually Andrews thread. I was sitting with Andrews grandfather this morning having a cup of coffee and when I looked out the window and saw the schiada sitting there so I snapped a photo.

John Denver...RIP

My business partner landed just ahead of him in his Citation Learjet one day in Aspen. Said he was really nice and they talked planes for awhile. Too bad he took the Long EZ out that day.

Each one of the carbon fiber blades is about 40k. I would guess some where in the 5-600k range. On a little more than 4 mil new cost with out options. Its not much. More so when you think about a motor overhaul at 3500 hours or every 4 years is 350k. Fuel burn is about 50 gallons an hour at 4-7 gallon. Depending on where you buy it.

Nothing cheap about turbines.

Yep.

Let me put it too you this way, my uncle use to own a company that maintaned private jets, he was also part or thr owner of every ramp in the sf bay area. When he retired amd sold the business. In 2003, he bought each of the 13 lawyers that handled the deal a Mercedes as a tip. Let me say that again as a tip. in 2003 they were~60k each. he wrote the dealer a personal check.

When he bought 5 king airs to sell, the dealer payment on each one was 13k a month, which was intrest only. Once again eairly 2000s.

You should see how much a manufactor like continental or lycoming wants for just a basic 4 or 6 clyinder.

Take the cessna 172, the most common plane flying in the use. It uses a lycoming io 360( think 350 chevy of the plane world.) They are a 4 cylinder 361 cupic inch motor making 160 hp. They are 85k new. http://www.airpowerinc.com/productcart/pc/TLEngineDetail.asp?catID=33&prodID=453144 40k with a 17k core on factory rebuild( zero time motor)

Its also 50s tech. The newer turbo fuel injected are double that.

Tbo is 2500 hours.

You can buy that prop, complete, new, for $60k. Fuel burn is 60-62 gph at FL270. Fuel with a membership card averages $3.50 / gallon. Engine overhaul is not predicated on calendar.

If you can find them for 60k certifed ready to go, i recommend you sell everything and buy them out. You will make a killing. If not please tell me where you are finding them for that and i will. Overhaul does not always mean rebuild. Per the manufactor it is 3500 hours or 4 years.

Not sure where you get your information. Check either Hartzell or MT. I bought a MT 5 blade for my TBM (new) 3 years ago from an authorized dealer for $57k. To say each carbon blade is $60 k is not factual. There is no 4 year overhaul requirement on a PT6.

Did you buy a HC-E5N-3C/NC8834K? With 105068? Or did you buy the older model? I said each blade is about 40k. Looking at thier 2019 price sheet they are comin ? Out at 20.5k each add in deicing boot is $500. None of this is installed, just parts cost. Your a&p /ia is going to have to get paid as well.

So now your saying your original estimate of $40k per blade was wrong and now its $20.5k per blade? I know several people that have bought new 5 blade Hartzell’s for their TBM, with boots, installed for $60k. Hartzell will take your metal four blade in trade lowering the price to $52k.
