My wife took over the checkbook before we got married. It’s not always the easiest but I spend like a drunken sailor (No offense to @DrunkenSailor).
That being said, back in the auto/boat/rv trader days I’d come home with one and she’d say “we’re not getting a boat/rv and you don’t need a new car”. Hell, we were going to name our last boat “so naut”.
I pick shit out and she gives me a budget. It’s worked out so far. Hell, it was her idea to get the current ride. I couldn’t pull the trigger.

My wife always walks out when I'm tipping them back heavily & catches me swigging from the stashed Jack Daniels I'd keep hidden in with the spray paint cans. She times it perfectly.

Debbie and I were a bad combo like that.
She ALWAYS told me to get what I wanted and only gave me shit if I tried to skimp on cost.
I’d show her what I “needed” for like engine parts or boat parts and she’d be like “is that the best one available?” I’d be like “well it’s good enough for this or that”...that’s when I’d get the look. She’d say “if it ain’t the best part you can buy you’ll be buying it twice.”
Loved that about her!!
She never once cared what I spent as long as it made me happy.

After years of marriage, my wife sees that the shop both keeps me sane, and brings in some money. She thinks the cars are rusty piles...and she is right. Those piles are someone's dreams, and I try to help...

...it also keeps me out of the house...maybe that's why she approves;)

When I told my Wife that I bought another boat this spring I said to her "your going to be mad" she says why?...I bought another boat (that's 4) . She replied I'm not mad I know you aren't impulsive and I'm sure you got a really good deal.
She then goes on to say I thought you wanted to build a Cobra.....Funny you should mention that because while I was there and the guy was showing me his car collection he showed me one and said I want you to have it.
I struck a deal to buy it when I'm ready.

My wife helps me in the garage no matter what we're working on. It started in 1967 in High School with her cleaning parts as I fixed my '60 Ford 406 Starliner. Race Friday nights and fix stuff Saturday and Sunday. Big part of why we're still together. Now it's boats, dragsters and buggies. lol

One day my wife found a tanning bed for a great deal of pick it up and take it home.
She has some occasional outbreaks of psoriasis. The dermatologist prescribes light treatments. So when she found the bed it’s like a free life time prescription, lol.

But there’s no place for it in the house.
Except....
The garage.

I was far less than happy with it!

That is:cool:
Until she came walking out into the garage naked. :)

I don't know about you guys but these days if either one of us buys anything over $20 we usually ask permission from each other....there was a time when she would come home and I'd say "walk out to the garage"...and there'd be a $100K car sitting there.:rolleyes: Those days have sailed.

Same goes for the kitchen, she loves to cook and try new things. I dont meddle in her kitchen business and she leaves me alone in the garage.

As we are looking at toons I asked her if we should get a fishing toon. She no you should also look for a bass boat and put in a 2 slip covered dock.

The other night we were watching YouTube together, watching some guys with Alaskan Mills slab up some trees.
She said "I bet that smells good. Next time you're in the garage cutting wood let me know."
I said I've got some wood that needs cutting right now.

Bought three boats and a 62 Nova without telling her. She just rolls her eyes at me now anyway.

Love those trucks. Kinda vehicle you'd see parked at Ziggys campsite.

My line is: Guess what I bought? she laughs and says what this time? she knows I buy what ever I want when ever I want and I rarely tell her til I bought it til its time to pick it up, or if I do tell her she says when are we driving or flying there to pick it up, I got a keeper....

I told her that I'd been to Macy's and it was a free gift with purchase. I couldn't pass up a good deal like that.

In the design of our RV garage i have a door bell like a convince store when the wife crosses the light beam. That way I can stop the fun that I am having before she realizes what is going on. LOL

While you are in the garage you are not in a bar or strip club. Some wives have figured this out.

Keepin that pimp hand strong.

Nah he just found the right Chick. It's amazing how easy a Relationship can be with a Chick by your side that's just as fucked up as you are. When it comes to Marriage, 2 Wrongs DO make a Right.

My latest boat purchase was encouraged by my wife. See thread https://www.riverdavesplace.com/for...runner-bottom-flat-loose.209075/#post-3561476 She knew I had got passed up on a very similar boat about 5 years ago cause i drug my feet making the decision and she didnt want that to happen again. She knows my dreams about boats and the happiness they bring me, now car projects, haha, thats another story!!!!!
