This film was Eastwood's directing debut. Siegel directed him in 5 other films though and as CE's mentor, he dedicated Gran Torino to him which was a remake of John Wayne's 'The Shootist' which was directed by Siegel.

I have always liked this film as it is so IMO out of charachter for him. Bridges Over Madison County is maybe his other film that you do not associate him with.
