I’ve been using OptiLube XPD at every fill up since 100,000 miles for the last 160,000 miles - so far so good.

Just turned 130,000 and seem to be losing a little gas mileage.

Thanks.

u should get a Cummins next time, the don’t go thru injectors at all

I don’t believe there is such a thing, I tried the acdelco stuff and the hot shot stuff, both worked for about a month, then things went back to normal, excuse me, shit.

it was on an lb7, so that’s not sayin much. I do run a fuel treatment with every tank now

For what it’s worth I had an 04 lb7 that I replaced injectors on. I ran opti lube every tank after and it ate the injectors within 40k miles.

From talking with others I was unlucky. The worst part was I loved that truck and still want another lol.

I run the grey bottle of Power Service in my 7.3. Its helped with mileage and felt like its helped with throttle response. I think these additives are just more of a cetane booster than injector cleaner.

Why not just service the injectors and fuel system?
It could save headaches down the road.

2 stroke oil, ATF and others are old wives tales for old diesel engines, past on at truck stops and by bull shitters in garages that don't have tool boxes. There is only one fuel treatment that is actually endorsed by Cummins.

460,000 on my 6.7 Cummins, I don't use anything and the engine has never be open.

You don't know shit from shinola about Diesel Injection if you think that high detergent low viscosity oils don't help clean the system.

Do you even know what Diesel Fuel is made/consists of? How to break down after combustion carbon?

Stanadyne:

That's what the guy at the injector shop said to use. He didn't bad mouth any others but has seen the best results with Stanadyne and he's been in the game for decades.

Duramax lb7 4oz per tank maxima 927 premix 200k on original injectors. Balance rates still werent to far off. Got replaced because engine got built up for more.
Current lmm duramax 280k original injectors balance rates and mileage in check still. Hard to say what really helps but have heard stanadyne to be pretty good

NO!!! On the ATF!! To much detergent, causes them to stick, due to lack of lubricity.

Well I have used it and my good friend who is a diesel mechanic who has built the highest HP diesels in the county and changed thousands of sets of injectors ( for higher HP) uses it. I do know he only uses a small amount. I get it its just a friend but he has never done me wrong and is very talented.
