I owned the 527 Vector for close to 20 years. We had our ups and downs together but I always wanted a 22 Stoker. Having a family with 3 kids the Hallett was an awesome boat but never really suited our needs. Lost my job way back when, sold it ( and my truck) and started looking for a 2
2 when things got better.

One of my brothers had a 20, then another 20... Then I came across a 22 but wasn't quite ready to buy yet. He bought it

He called one day and asked, " what ever happened to the perfect blue 22 from back east?"

Turned out it got sold to a guy out here.. it went up for sale.. . and he picked that one up too.

I bought the maroon one from him a few years ago.

She was tired..

So it began last May... Mid Covid somewhat.

I've made some mistakes and had to grind and start over...typical

It's going to be a beast..

More to come

I always liked the 22 Stokers first one I ever saw in person had twin 2.4's really a fine looking boat on the water. I recently was thinking how one would perform with the new Mercury 400 or 450R since they can swing big 5 bladed props. The work you have done so far looks nice and hopefully get'ur done.

Coosa question:

Honestly? Stuff is pretty easy to work with. Yes., Dusty. Wear a mask when I cut and sand. Goes thru blades. I am thoroughly against putting wood back in this boat. It won't absorb water or rot.

Boat is an 87. The transom had lag boats in it , cracked everywhere across the center section and had about a 3/4 of an inch WOW in it from top to bottom.

I put a sheet of 1708 in first then made the transom on a table. Made a healthy mix of epoxy paste with micro balloons and 1/4 chopped glass in between each 3/4 panel.

It's pretty stout with the 1 1/2 inch coosa knees that I built.

I'll be throwing some Coosa in another small project I've got squirreled away. Thank you for the motivation. ;)

Did you use duraglass to finish it off?

Using DuraTec.. Most of the tunnel has 2 coats except for the rear compartment. haven't final sanded the floor yet to prep it.

Not going to put carpet back in. Going to use "Sofsand" in maroon gel. Strategically of course so that the cleared balsa floor will be visible around the non skid areas and on the top of the trap door.

That was my original plan for my floor and somehow I talked myself into Seadek 😁

Any updates on this at all?
Kind of. Won't make excuses, but getting the Delta in August and a little mental burnout are probable causes.

It took me almost 3 months to get my motor ordered, won't be here until March '22.. it's big and it's black.

Most of my parts were delayed and they are still trickling in.

I wasn't happy with the outboard splash well and transom paint so.. a few weeks to finish that off.

Jack plate, inner transom plates, power steering, fuel selector all laid out along with the rough wiring.

Baby steps..

in your first post you mentioned you had a vector which you liked but never suited your familys needs... as a new vector owner and long time stoker lover im curious what the stoker will give you that the vector was lacking?

Very nice work! All of that rot looks all too familiar.

You’re going to love the glass dash.

300R or 450R? Inquiring minds want to know 🤓

You’ll enjoy either one.

I like your custom touches, it’s going to come out clean. It’s really fun running an old boat like ours with modern touches, makes people scratch their head and the modern conveniences make the boat enjoyable to use.

Well.. since AL already knows, I ordered a 400r last year. I have some Hill props in route to test.

I called last week regarding the delivery date , which started as February which turned to March, then April...now May!

My first cut on the transom was May 11th of '20.. I can only hope it's here by then.

Simrad.. I've fiddled with it but haven't used it next..

Thanks for the comment about the "touches".. it's the old ski racer in me.. I could walk thru the pits all day looking at boats.

Well, when the time comes, I’d be happy to talk propping and setback with you. I learned a ton on my 23 Daytona, as well as my buddy Nick’s.

I didn’t know they were that far behind on 400R’s, thought just the V8 stuff due to demand.

Nice ride!

How many hours do you have on her now and what’s the best prop so far?

Taking it out NYD( in pdx) ..
going to be some windchill!

My 26 and 28 5 blades are the go toos.. strong out of the hole, zero cavitation and brutal 40 to 80 accelleration.

Testing a Hill BC 4 blade Monday.. 15.25/30..

Should have listened to your hint last year regarding the SeaDeck🙂

We’re taking the StressEliminator out NYD also. Going to be her first dip in desert waters at Lake Pleasant.

When I had the 400R on my boat the 26 & 28 Max5 ST’s were my go to props. I got to run a Merc Racing 30 Cleaver and that posted best speed, but for everyday use that 28 Max5 ST was the ticket. Ran 4 and 5 blades, can’t beat the midrange efficiency of the 5 blade.

My boat likes 15” to 15-1/4”; 15-1/2” props get too much bite and want to prop walk at top speed. Tried to bite me twice, won’t ever put another one on again.

The 400R could do WOT holeshot with propshaft at 0” with the thru-hub 5 blades and launch with no cavitation; a good balance of “traction” and torque. Can’t even think about doing that with the 450R on there. Still working on best holeshot with that.

Enjoy your day on the water tomorrow!

You too, have fun..prop testing is a pain! We mostly ski and just play around.. I get cleavers with ass end lift and all but Stokers really dont like them for an " all around prop". We will see with this solid hub Hill.. its worth a try but spending the cash on 5 of them, looking for the "one" kinda hurts..

But still.. its the first 22 with a 4hundy.. I expected it...
