I have been bitten by both black and brown widow. Brown widow was def worse. Still have a scar from that one. And brown widows reproduce like crazy

Tarantulas aren’t really scary. Those little creepy nasty spiders are the worst.

Did some long overdo wedding today, seen at least 30 black widows. I think its time to hire a pro lol.

Disappointed after two pages and you haven't done a follow up report on how the wedding with 30 black widows and possibly a hired pro went ? 🤔
I've heard with emotions maxed out, weddings can be a great hook up. 😂

We used have thousands of black widows & spraying poison didn't do the trick so I started going spidering at night (yes, I made that word up). Since they only come out at night, I torch them & their webs around certain areas & use my Bug-A-Salt gun for others.

As long as I do this a couple times a week, especially now that it's getting warm & they're getting active, we're in the most spider free property in the state.

TIPS: A buddy of mine who owns a pest control company says black widows are opportunists and will occupy old webs from other spiders so it's important to deweb once you've killed them.

Also, when spraying & they're not out, doesn't kill them well. The poison needs to come in contact with them.

I don't like the cancer causing chemicals in poisons so I prefer "mano a mano" approach. It works great & I kind of enjoy teh hunt.

I watched a documentary of some sort a while back that had a guy doing that very thing.
He’d go out with his headlamp on and rain hell on earth on the black widows. He had spray and a weed burner.
He had suffered real bad bite in his sleep right on his chest. It screwed Him up bad and he was lucky to recover. Since that he was on a mission to obliterate black widows.
It was sobering to say the least seeing the amount of widows out at night.

Yes, spiders do suck, but I'll take a few spiders crawling around to a few THOUSAND KILLER BEES... I've never had a spider chase me, but those fricken Bees, wow.... The bees even waited for me to come back out of the house!!!!! I had a bee keeper come over to get the queen from a hive and even HE ran away into his van once he realized the bees were of the killer variety... Poison pads from ACE were needed to kill the bees and it took most of the afternoon...Now back to your regularly scheduled spider thread....Oh, spiders like to hide in boats that were parked for the winter and then show themselves at the worst of times....

One of my biggest fears is being on Powell way down the lake and having one of my kids bit by a rattlesnake. My buddy @mswasey killed one under his sons cot last year in the camp.

We had the same thing with aggressive bees & turns out we had a hive nearby that a beekeeper came & removed. They are very protective of the hives and not so much when just out gathering.

This is my buddy Special. He's a Rose Hair. Hanging out watching TV with me. Gets along with the dog, can be a little temperamental sometimes but usually pretty tame. Don't EVER let tarantulas crawl on your face or anywhere you don't want itching. Their hairs are irritating meaning they are used for defense, are barbed like a fish hook and make you itch. Tarantulas can be great pets.....but as said before vermin spiders like wolf spiders and black widows are pests. Like another poster said before, I usually let them go when out away from home but they are disposed of in the garage and house.

I go spidering at night too. The little bastard brown widows are all over the place especially the cast iron patio furniture frames.

Spray them directly. Or if I'm feeling pissed off, torch them.

For extra fun, electrocute them. This is the best for flys and mosquitos. Killed a few wasps with them too. Any electricians here wanna see if they can convert it to use a 9v battery? Make the little fucks smoke!

Is he ready to molt? Back looks a little rubbed.
I had a red hair that shed a few times. Freaked me out the first time I looked in and saw 2 identical spiders. He had a broken leg once and after molting it was fixed.
That was a trip.

Try a Bug-A-Salt gun. We have horse property & bought it for the flys (it's hard to find a fly around our house now) & it kills spiders even better. It just shoots a small amount of salt so it's not messy. I love those guns.

LOL. Tarantulas have 8 legs and resemble the vermin spiders around your house, I get that. But the tarantulas are less likely to bite for the hell of it or think you are a meal. The Tarantulas just want a cricket, worm or other bug. I've had this guy over 4 years and I think he's close to 5 years old. He prolly won't live much past 7 years. He's a boy. He's a good boy. The females live up to 20 years. There are some Tarantulas that will bite with any contact. Just the way they are. OBT (Orange Baboon Tarantula) or Orange Bitey Thing, Cobalt Blue, etc. will strike at any contact. I don't care for snakes, scorpions, etc. just the tarantulas.

Yeah, he was prolly ready to molt there. I posted some other pics of this same tarantula and you can see he's different sizes is the pics. Pretty heavy and furry when ready to molt and skinny and shiny after molt.

Too much to write about my spider bite. The one thing that kept mine from bad to much worse....I had not put anything on it...doctor said that was the best....if you get a bite...use hot towels....you will be much better off. Putting over the counter wound sprays, liquids, patches, can seal the bite and seal in the venom.....

Yea that was spooky, really made me look at options IF a snake bite were to happen way down the lake. Not many options, especially at night.

It took me about 8-10 years to get the Black Widow Population under control at my house. When I first bought it, I was killing 1-2/month for years.

I sprayed once a qtr for 8-10 years.... I havent seen one in the last year or so, but I am still spraying.

I also totally re lanscaped the back yard, sure that helped also. No more grass, junipers and only a couple small small hedges.

If you want to freak out, flip over the patio chairs and find out you have black widows nesting under them all. I found 9 recently.

They make those in D cell, you can hold a tarantula hawk down with them, they'll spark and smoke then fly away when you release the trigger.

I was told a garden spider but I'm not real sure maybe one of the experts will know.

Looks like an Orb Weaver. The females get huge and build very intricate webs every night, I guess rebuild would be more accurate. Pretty harmless really as their venom is mild and they are not very aggressive, rarely bite. I still kill them as I don't like walking into that huge web at night with a huge spider in it.

For all of you out killing brown and black widows make sure to get the nest. If there is a new egg sack in there and you don't destroy it you're just spinning your wheels.

Yes. Black widdow bites should be avoided! I should have lost the finger. If it wasn't for a great skin graft specialist and treatment, I would have
