Yesterday we did the first of a couple of shoots on my buddy Tom’s new boat! This is the actual Tommy Bahama race boat that ran in the 80’s and 90’s. They cut true canopy off and made it a pleasure boat.. The whole package is insane!

For those that don’t know I am a huge Tommy Bahama fan, so my buddy getting this boat is over the top cool in my eyes.. 😍

I wasn’t aware that MTI was around in the 80s and 90s? I also think the iconic MTI “hump” deck didn’t come out until 04ish. I could be wrong but just going off what I remember.

You are probably right.. I know Randy went overseas to Dubai doing race programs then came back to the USA and started MTI.. Either way this is the original race boat. I believe it was hull number 4 built.

I'd love to see some details about that rudder design (i see theres a wedge and a little lip and then some lines cut into it? someone did that for a reason) and also those aerators for the props... does it connect to a tube thru the engine bay and above the water line?

pretty sweet boat. its MASSIVE and fits 4. hah love it.

Were you able to get in and get a ride? Also, is this the boat the helicopter is following around today?

Stop being such a tease.

Not sure what it looked like before but by chopping the canopy off really make it a pleasure boat now? LOL

Can't wait to see that bad boy rollin around havasu. One of my favorites from back in the day! Always loved the design / paint and set up. (Which originally was equipped with Trimax drives, Weismann dropboxes, Koury engines, center rudder and was originally rigged by Gary Stray of Supercat Rigging if anyone cares). Raced from 01 to 05 I believe. And was THE boat to beat in the early 00's.

Some may not know but the boat was converted to diesel with some experimental duramax engines.

I think it's so cool what the new owner did taking it back to it's original look (sans canopy). Fuckin' AWESOME!

Here's the diesel project:

And some shots of it in its hey day. Back when racing was bad ass!

Watched the original boat doing kilo runs from the water in Cleveland back in the day. Went back the next day and watched them race.

I’m jonesin about the little golf-cart sized tires on the trailer the tunnel rests on.. those are a badass idea.. you wouldn’t have to completely “dunk” the trailer to get the boat on and off...!
Oh and the boat is pretty bitchen too.! Lol

Super good idea, they can be a real bitch to get on the trailer because of how long they are and how light they float. This would make it so much easier

I know. I miss that style. It is the only old style I miss.

Well that, and low rise jeans on the ladies. [emoji3][emoji3] Time for the high waisted jeans to go out of style....again.

So Tommy Bahama shirts are out of style? What's next, my cowboy boots?

how do we go about trading those fat dudes for hot chicks in the photos? I'm free to consult on the next photoshoot, if you need help with this kinda thing.
