Golf carts are ridiculously priced right now as well as side by sides! I researched and decided to build one. Found a beat up club car with bad cables and batteries. Changed all the cables and batteries. Bought a lift kit and wheels and tires. Pulled the body off shot the paint in the garage, new back seat, light bar and a really nice smart charger, light bar, blue tooth wireless speakers etc etc. I'm in in it for 2800 plus my time. You can build one in the garage in a pretty short time. I had mine done in 9 days. I also searched around for an off road car and ended up finding a four seater dune buggy with a 2275 and a bus transmission that had a bad clutch and the 44 Weber's needed rebuilding for really cheap. I know everyone wants the razors and can am type right now but our car turned out pretty cool and is an absolute blast. Just food for thought. Good luck with your search.

Things are nuts right now, I did a complete motor, clutch, fuel system, and exhaust on this last year. It does have long travel and a bunch of other goodies on it. I bought the car for 5500, and the rest of the costs were rebuild costs. I'm sure you could find a similar deal if you hunt around
