All you have to do is post your favorite desert Storm memories in this thread! I will pick two winners and each winner can take a plus 1!

post your pics, stories, videos, whatever! Let’s see them!

Photo bombing this guy. Forget his name as his eyes rolled back at the RDP party multiple times.

Very simple..... My first Desert Storm. My then girlfriend and I had come down a few weeks prior and purchased a Shockwave with the intention of driving down, seeing DS, then going home with the boat.

HOLLY HELL BATMAN..... WE HAD NO FKN CLUE WHAT IT WAS ALL ABOUT! Pure fkn culture shock from a born and raised Oregonian who didn’t know boats existed without rod holders on them!!!!

Met a few people from the forum that year, had a great time, and haven’t missed one since! That trip changed my entire outlook on life! Have been happier and healthier ever since!

This is the same year (I think) that I got a call from RD (actually Stacy first) asking if I could go tow a certain all blue Hallett from the North entrance of the channel that was borrowed from another prominent member here. LOL Was supposed to get a steak dinner from ol RD over that, but have never collected. We had a good time that night, was my first night boating experience.

Don't those R44 helicopters have a weight limit? People over 250 need not apply.

Every helicopter has a weight limit.. A 44 is a four seater so if you are pushing 300 you just don’t take another passenger with you.

My favorite desert storm memory was the street fair, the wind didn't seem to affect it much... I'm afraid of heights so pass my winning flight on to someone else...

All my Desert Storm weekend experience has been people watching at Stagecoach. The stuff I get to watch there and the cases of Mono that I’ve been able to wingman my single buddies into have been pretty memorable. 🤣🤣

I do wish it was still happening but I’m excited to experience Desert Storm for the first time.

Well I will try to explain it but it is 'you had to be there moment'. It was either the 2nd or 3rd DS and my Pops, Uncle and I arrive about 9:30 at the Marina with a 28 foot Lowe's toon (POS). Right off - the battery was dead. We are blocking most of the ramp. This guy jumps into his truck and pulls out a spare battery. We finally get it started and head out maneuvering though all the boats waiting in Thompson Bay for the start. It is now about 10 and we are halfway to Copper Canyon when the hammer drops (back then it was hammer down from the buoys). Boats are literally passing us so close we are getting sprayed left and right. And flipping us off left and right. My Uncle yells ' get us the fuck out of here we are going to get killed'. My Pops was driving and I yelled 'just stay straight and do not turn an inch or we will get hit'. Anyways - that was my awaking to DS. Talk about a bunch of hack newbies. Scary at the time. Funny as shit to re-live it.

Sooo, here is my story...in 2018 my friend and I had a blast pushing our boats to the limit during DS. He had a m29 and I had a 30amt/DW. We had a so much fun waking up early Wednesday Thursday and Friday, charging down the lake racing each other. Well, Saturday my wife and I heard sirens while at the nautical pool, shrugged it off thinking it was a fight or something of that nature. Well, it was not a fight, my friend Eric ran up to the pool very distraught and spoke to us about the lickity split crash. Eric with the 29, had Brad launch his boat earlier in the week and he had no idea where his trailer was. Long story short we found it, after many hours searching, This is my first year back and constantly think of Brad Connie and Paul, RIP, we love you!

Back when "little" boats participated. Can't find the picts from when I was a safety boat with the Coast Guard onboard to observe our operations. We were showing them that the event was safety oriented. I really enjoyed working with Jim and the DS team.

I remember going to the first few "Heatwave" poker runs. I had my Hallett 20ss which would hit about 70 MPH or so, and for some reason I thought that was fast enough to stay in the middle of the pack. I remember running down the lake starting ahead of the big cats and looking behind me to see the roosters from 4-5 skaters in the distance coming up on me. At first I started gradually moving to the side of the lake instead of the middle to get out of the way, but then I ended up turning to head directly to the side of the lake once I realized how quickly they were closing the gap. I had never been that close to big boats moving that fast and gained a whole new appreciation for how fast they were.

I also remember that there were a couple of guys in a small boat, maybe a flat bottom, who would wear fire fighter helmets and do the whole run. It was great to see them out there.

PS: I'm not at the poker run this year and am not posting to be in the contest, but just thought of some memories from some of the first poker runs I went to.
