Still not sure we made the right choice selling "Comfortably Numb" but considering we wanted to make a few changes that fit our family better and now that we know how we use our boat we decided on build #2 with Bob and the Gang down at Shockwave. We love the Shockwave family and are excited to embark on this second build "Wish You Were Here"

Shockwave 28 Deck
Mercury Racing 600sci
Mercury Racing XR Drive
Simrad NSS9 Evo 3
Livorsi Monster Speedo and RPM
JL Audio Media Master 100s with MMR 40 Remote
8 7.7" M3 770x
2 12" M7 12IB
M800 800Watt 8 Channel Amp
M1000 1000Watchh 2 Channel Amp
And all sorts of other goodies...

The Concept. We have made some changes. and cant wait to see how she comes out.

I like the concept drawing. Congrates on the new build. When is it expected to be completed?

haha great question typically the build time is 8-10 weeks. My last build was 10 weeks. With all the issues getting parts and stuff im looking at 10-12 for sure. I already have the engine tho!

Any idea how long Shockwave lets them rest in the mold?
depends mine was in mold almost 4 weeks. but a lot going on these days are covid delay related. My first build was in mold for 2 weeks.

last week the top popped out of the mold and I was a little worried. A lot goes into the design work and there is a lot of interpretation that happens. Dave who does the gel work is awesome. He nailed it on our first design and to be honest i have been having a lot of sellers remorse. When the top popped out last week it was a little different than what we talked about.....but it was only the top and that doesnt necessarily mean the whole boat is wrong right? haha its been a rough weekend......but here is the top out of the mold.

I wish I could record the discussions with the family over the gel scheme....pops and I argue so much about these things...he quit on me a couple times during the process haha but I told him this is gonna be different than everyone else. This scheme is different. The grey is gonna work....and then when the top popped out i was like uhoh....i hope i didnt screw this whole thing up. Well pops took off for arkansas for a few weeks to spend some time with his buddy and so my son and I drove over to shockwave today cause I knew she was going to be completely out of the mold. and here she is.....

Its not exactly how we drew it up but like i said its up to Dave's interpretation and he killed it again. I love it. Its a different Blue than Comfortably Numb and I dig that as well...sent the pics to pops in Arkansas and he digs it too. Now we play a little bit of a waiting game as there are boats in front of us that need to get to done but overall im beyond happy.

We have been working on the Gator Step with the Gator Step So Cal guys and to say we are going over the top is an understatement. If they can make our design work its gonna be so freaking rad. It wont make sense to most people but once we explain it haha......Hoping it works....3 layers of gatorstep 3 colors completely custom design based on our Pink Floyd Themes!

We were moored up next to a few of these in the channel on Friday, they seem a lot bigger in person than some other similar class decks I have seen. Seems like a great layout for a family hauler.

Something I noticed this weekend that I wanted to get your input on was the walk off to the swimstep. Instead of a true walk off like nordic and howard it looks like you have to step over the transom to the swimstep right? Seems like there would be pros and cons either way, step over would be more secure for things that are inside the boat while underway, the true walkoff may be more convenient? Since you have already owned this hull, did you even notice it as a positive or a negative?

the boat is massive. the only one bigger that i have been in is an interceptor. as for the walkoff i wonder if you were looking at a 26 cat and not the 28 deck. you dont have to step over the transom on a 28. there is a small step up to the walk off.....

I think this is what he was referring to (the notch). The 26 doesn’t have a walk off. I personally think the full transom wall (Shockwave 28’) looks better but I have no experience with the ease of either.

The build is coming along nicely. Congrats!

gotcha.....i fumbled the transom for the bow...duhhh....and i dont know about the other brands but on the top step before going over the transom we have an access door to the batteries and perko switch right there.....i can assure you that there is no issues walking to the back of the boat....that last step is a doosy at about 3 inches.....and yes its a nice spot to load up the ao cooler before we head out...drive down to campbells for gas and shes still sittin right there.

Yeah @LC925 is correct in what I was referring to. Glad to hear that it doesn't cause any issues in usability because I will agree that it is more attractive to have an uninterrupted transom.

so an update is there is no update......getting parts has been a disaster for most shops. We are patient in our build because we are good friends with Bob and understand the issues. Yeah we missed the season but all is good. Boat has been sitting for awhile as more pieces to the puzzle come in. Im hoping to have some updates soon. We made massive changes to the gatorstep package and think the new idea based on something we saw out of Eliminator will kick ass. in other words no news....but soon!

Well here we gooooo......the boat is inside and rigging should commence soon. The interior is already nearing completion. today we did design work on the fiberglass seat backs and some other stuff. Shes getting the imperfections out and fixing any issues with the gelcoat.

Boat is finishing up fast but still waiting on a few pieces to the puzzle. We are extremely pumped on how Santos and crew made our seats a reality. We love “the Wall”

We are waiting on a few more parts and all the wiring is near completion engine is in! Underwater lights. Most of the sound system. Waiting on the custom gatorstep and custom extreme trailer that we made slight changes to
