Wrong guy. George Strait writes better songs, too.

Shame about Vegas. Was never big on gambling or really much of anything else it offered, but it was a nice place to go to.
I like George Strait, but he doesn't write many songs and all my exes wasn't written by him.

Fair enough. But, I never claimed it was written by him or that he wrote many songs, just better ones.

Vegas has been “open” for a month and a half. The casinos will take care of the unwanted element long before the city, to protect their investment.

once they can hire the staff back. Huge issue right now for the casinos.
They all want to increase rates to keep the trash out, but being closed for so long, they are all trying to pay down debt, so trash is paying the bills. Plus ZERO conventions which usually triggers trash day.

Got word last week that our annual meeting is on in March. I was kinda shocked to be honest. Wasn’t sure we’d ever do them again.

Use to like Vegas but haven’t been in about 4-5 years and don’t really care to go anymore

Flew through Vegas a few weeks ago, I was blown away at the airport. Place was full of piece of shit hood rats and big fat black women with 300 pound asses stuffed in yoga pants. Every single person I know who has been recently said they won’t go back, place is waaay to dark now.

We went 2 months ago. Never have I seen so many people high off pot but still want to fight everyone they saw. Won’t be back any time soon, and if we do have to go to Vegas again, it won’t be on the strip. Complete shit hole.

Oh and for a goof last night looked up hotels in that area. Excalibur was $300. I was just there and they should pay you on a Saturday night what with the half hour or more waiting for an elevator to your room. I will stick with my old fogey Sunset Station even though I am sick to death of looking at it.
Lol wtf. That’s a bargain basement $39.99 hotel. $300 is insane for that shithole.

Yup, its not the same any more....we gave up the strip many, many years ago...we have been staying at the Golden Nugget downtown for the last 10 years or so and go a handful of times a year...we did not go at all in 2020 and just went last month, very disappointed, it was an off weekend and just ghetto as hell...wife and I went downstairs at 7am to get some coffee and there was already a line to get into the pool that opened at 10am...we literally packed up early and headed home.

We used to make random 2-3 day trips there from Redding when Deb and I lived up north.
We loved doing that even though more than once I swore I’d never gamble again! Lol

NHRA weekends were a given.
But it was always a blast just walking the strip with our shoulder strap drinks, taking in the sights, and hitting our favorite tables and slots up and down the strip.
A couple months ago I was supervising a job in Nipton. Stayed at searchlight.
a few times a week I was running into Vegas for parts and different things for the rig and equipment.
It was hard to believe it was even the same place as before.
The strip looked like a scene from “the wire”.
Ghetto doesn’t even come close, especially on the weekends. And that’s not even at night.
A couple times I had to stay at Primm resort for a random night or two.
Now I realize that Primm has never been anything to brag about..but god damn.
Sunday is a total clusterfuck on the 15 south.
Picture a 30 mile traffic jam of spinner rimmed rap blasting CA plates with weed and MD 20/20 fueled drivers and you start to get the picture.

I had a day or two where I planned on hitting the strip and enjoying a drink or two and maybe spinning a couple slots.
Not a chance. No way no how you’ll ever catch me in Vegas again as it stands now.

Do you think the people that go there now , that we , meaning RDP , refer to as trash , know they are trash ? Do you think they want to aspire to greater things ?

We are meeting our son at Bikefest at the end of September. Were riding down from Northern NV and he is coming from AZ. That should be a blast!!! LOL

And back to Garth, Lost respect after the Biden deal also. He is a great entertainer. We saw him in the early 90's in Sac. Tickets were $12

We saw Garth at State Farm Arena (Cardinal Stadium) March, 2019, the first stop of the Stadium Tour.

Now I've been going to various Concerts all over the Country for 50 some-odd years.

Garth was the greatest musical experience I ever had.

We went to that one too! It was by far the best concert ever.!

Was there to pick up the new to us Jag in May. Hood rats everywhere. The entire strip smelled like weed. Stayed at Aria. Lost my ass in the Casino. Had a view of the roof and the HVAC system. Couldn’t get a table for dinner anywhere in the entire place. Finally snagged two seats at the bar in the Mexican restaurant there and two black women came up and took two more next to us and the bartender told them they couldn’t sit there because we were too close (COVID). I told the bartender that we were all related. They asked him why he couldn’t see the resemblance. He rolled his eyes and let them sit there. We had a good laugh over that anyway. Ate three times at Outback across the street with reservations. Seems like every time I go there I swear I’ll never be back.

So sorry to hear about people's experiences. My wife and I live in Vegas (well Henderson,Lake Las Vegas). We go to Freemont Street and near the strip for lunch and such quite a bit and never seem to see much of this stuff. It is super crazy busy and info from my insider industry friends is; they confirm they are all under staffed and Vegas in general was not ready to have some of the busiest months in it's history (kind of like Hawaii?).

To be fair, RDP has really become such a place fo negative Nancys (I'm probably guilty of it as well but in general I'm a glass half full kind of guy). I have been coming on RDP less and less because I feel like I'm reading the shitty news every day. I really feel everywhere is what you make of it. There are literally hundreds of cool restaurants (literally some of the best in the world) hotels and places to visit in Vegas and surrounding areas where the riffraff isn't around but you still get the "Vegas experience".

A few photos from our last weekend doing some fun stuff on and near the strip. We had an absolute blast and not once smelled pot, saw a fight, or anything not up to snuff.

Honestly, if you can't have fun in Vegas or find a good side to it, I dont know what to tell ya.

Took a great hike in the early morning up from our home.

Went to Frankie's Tiki for an afternoon drink and to pick up one of their cocktail recipe books for a family member. This is one of my favorite bars around!

Driving around near Frankie's and found this bitchen 60's era neighborhood pocket right near the strip with amazing beautiful homes on big lots with tons of tree lined streets and nobody around. Little photo op near there.
20210703_165501.jpg

Then to the cool little casino Ellis Island right off the strip. Their upstairs bar the Front Yard is awesome and had a tiki vibe thing going on for a short time and we wantes to check it out. It was great and if you're a beer drinker their own brewery is good and cheap! We had tiki cocktails and a beer sample and some great appetizers.

Looking down into another part of the bar. They have 4 hours all you can drink including an entre toneat during hockey games for 90.00! Sounds like a mess to me! Hahahah

Took this from the parking garage. I still get butterflies going to the Strip. I still love Vegas. It's going though some pains right now but it ways comes back strong. Shit, six months ago the news was saying Vegas will never make it back and now they are having record months!

This was our next morning. This is across the street from our house. There is lots to do in Vegas besides get drunk on the Strip.

I have some close friends that had a great time in Vegas this weekend. Stayed at the Wynn and took a limo to the show. I'm sure it wasn't cheap.

People say it's "ghetto" now ? Watching a bunch of drunks stroll down the strip with those cheap 3" foot tall drinks and the guys snapping the porn cards in your face was never really model of being classy.

Any info on the Trump International in LV. Understand it's off the strip with no gaming. Claims to be a 5 star hotel.

I grew up in Vegas. Worked there until I was 23 Years old.

I have friends that cant leave the place alone. Every weekend, they are there in the Clubs showboating. Never understood it.
I love my life at home and dont need to escape every month.

Last two times my wife and I have gone, we stayed at the Four Seasons. Never left the room except for Spa and an occasional bite to eat. Highly recommend it for a "ghetto free" experience.

Maybe in your cozy world you didn't get the memo, we are being run by a late 70 year old pedophile that has 1/3 of a brain left and a VP that gave blowjobs to get where she is now. That my friend is the real world!!!!

Rif raff will move out now that prices are going up. I booked a one bedroom premium suite for $200 per night for next week (machinery trade show). Called yesterday to adjust room nights and the price per night for a TUESDAY has gone up to $480 for the same room. If that price increase is somewhat standard across Vegas then the patronage will shift to a cleaner group.

I heard that the stadium wouldn't let anyone in with a purse larger then 6"x4". I had a friend go with his kids and his wifes purse was ok but his daughters wasn't. They walked over a mile in the heat and wasn't about to walk back. He told her to grab everything valuable and ditched it in the bushes. Well when he did he said the bushes were full of purses from people doing the same thing. Also another friend left her purse and many other women did as well in a strangers trunk that was parked near the stadium in hopes the guy was honest. Turned out he was and she got her purse back.

Have they reopened their buffet?

We have our home in Anthem Country Club and it is very nice. The strip is about 11 miles away and we rarely go down there. When we lived in Huntington Beach rarely went to Disneyland. Kind of the same thing as the channel in Havasu. This last couple of years it seems like the rude people out in force.

Nothing but section 8 government subsidized trash there right now. Pretty much the same as I said to our casino host of why we haven't been back in months. The cheap flights and freebies for the people who aren't there to actually spend money need to stop or its going to get worse.....now that they have built the worlds largest meeting grounds for Felons (aka raiders fans)...I doubt it goes back to normal.

I've booked a corner 1-bed suite there a couple of times and liked it. Clean, no smoking, and we aren't into gambling. It's sort of off the strip, but not like The Palms or anything. It's an easy walk to the other hotels. It's one of the cheapest 5-star options; I'd stay there again.

The wife and I, and some friends of ours went in May. IMO, it wasn't that bad. We hit all of our typical spots and had a good time. Walked up and down the strip and Freemont with no issues. The weed smell does suck though.

We did see a shoplifter, a woman in her 20's, early 30's..darker complexion come crashing out of the stores by the Cosmo (the one with the wooden looking restaurant) being chased by 2 female employees in suits and heels. There was an element outside that was cheering on the criminal douche. Anyway, the chick ran into a big ole black lady (aka BOBL) and got knocked down. The BOBL then grabbed a few of the bags, couldn't get them all and handed them to the store employees to the rousing cheers of the law abiders. My friend asked the store employees if they called the cops and they flat out said there was no point, as they wouldn't do anything to the shoplifter.

Guess that is a sign of the unfortunate times.

I agree. The hole in the wall or off the beaten path are usually the best bets. There are probably a thousand restaurants or mom and pop lunch places no one ever heard of that are great. And recreational options too.
Actually just toured Lake Las Vegas 2 years ago. Very nice.

This was our next morning. This is across the street from our house. There is lots to do in Vegas besides get drunk on the Strip. View attachment 1024371

If you're not having fun in Vegas, you're doing it wrong! Have a great week everyone

I've learned that best Vegas spots are usually off strip and/or spendy.

Staying on the strip is sometimes necessary to have easy access to everything but you don't have to stay on the strip for eating and activities.

So when we go, it's either a nicer hotel adult pool, suite tower pool, or Cabana at either the pool or a pool club. For dinner we make reservations and we try to find a few cool, small bars that don't attract any type of riff raff (It ends up being country bars or lesser known bars with a fun theme).

You just have to look a little harder to find the cool spots with a good crowd.

Pull a few extra bucks out of yer pocket and stay at one of the nicer hotels. We spent a few days at Encore a month ago and the room rates kept the riff raff out.

I saw bunch of negative comments on this forum and was skeptical, but we had a great time. Did notice a BIG difference in the crowd from MGM to Wynn’s joints.
Concur.... I read all the negative stuff on RDP so warned my young friends [27 yr olds] planning a trip.....they stayed at Bellagio and got upgraded to a suite for two night stay, went to those gymnastic dancers for a show and said they had a blast and never experienced any negativity.

I agree with both of you. When we went (2019) it was before he went hard left. Won't do it again, but it WAS a good show.
